It is with great sadness that we, Jack’s family, announce the passing of our beloved Jack: husband, father, granddad, and all round legend. The world of music will be a poorer place without him, but he lives on in his music and forever in our hearts.

Incredible musician. Saw him in 2002 playing with Todd Rundgrens "A walk down Abbey Road" Beatles tribute tour. Jack replaced John Entwistle for the tour. He was brilliant. Could still sing and play like a motherfucker... ;)

"Jack Bruce, singer and bassist of classic rock band Cream, died at the age of 71, his family confirmed on his Facebook page Saturday.

"It is with great sadness that we, Jack’s family, announce the passing of our beloved Jack: husband, father, granddad, and all round legend. The world of music will be a poorer place without him, but he lives on in his music and forever in our hearts," the Bruce family wrote.

A rep for Bruce confirmed to TMZ that he died from liver disease.

An acclaimed bass player for Cream, Bruce also sang lead vocals on Cream songs like "Sunshine of Your Love" and "White Room." The group, whose members also included Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker, were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993."


That is sad. I myself was beginning to discover Jack's Music since buying his Box Set 'Can You Follow' earlier this year for cheap. Okay, by cheap I mean used.

Jack was never lauded by commercial success like his sell-out butt rubbing buddy Clapton was but Jack never really gave a shit. Bruce was like George Harrison in the sense that he let his hands do the talking for him and in that guise Jack had a lot to say. A simple virtuoso who could take 4 strings and make them sing like an Aria opera that drilled a neuropathway right into your soul something many of your failed musician cretins will never understand. Listen to those semi-automatic fired notes on 'Crossroads' where he (purposefully) drowns out Clapton's pretentious soloing. There is not a bass player today since nor will there ever be one who could do what he did. So suck my fucking cock, Geddy Lee. Such a tremendous loss. Jack had one hell of a powerhouse voice, too. Shame he'll only be remembered in most circles by his playing in Cream because Jack's resume was tremendous ranging from Frank Zappa to Robin Trower.

Best tune by him? Too many to mention' 'So They Invented Race' still stands as one on MY all-time favs. (Love the bassline - and yes, you can fuck to it).

I remember hearing of his liver troubles 8 or 9 years ago. Poor guy was probably living on some borrowed time. He was a grate one. RIP.

I'm glad these guys did their reunion tour. The magic was still there. There was and will only be one Jack Bruce. Rest in peace.
