Well, he has a part in the VH story - booked them first at the Whisky in late '76, and talked them up in the LA Times in 77. I think he was probably a bit disappointed that VH's version of 'Young and Wild' (which he wrote, and which his Runaways successor proteges, Venus and the Razorblades recorded) never made it from the Warners demos to VH1.

He wrote some good tunes, including an early 60s US #1 hit under the name Hollywood Argyles ('Alley Oop'), was the first person Robert Plant wanted to meet when he got to LA in the late 60s, and co-wrote tunes on lots of albums, including Blue Oyster Cult's 'Agents of Fortune' and Kiss' 'Destroyer'.

In fact, by some quirk of showbiz trading Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley managed to get a writing credit on this, 'King od the Nighttime World' on 'Destroyer' ... whT, I wonder did they add to the original, by the Hollywood Stars, and written by Fowley and that band's Marc Anthony ???

I knew it was you from way back. :high5:

There must be pics of Kim Fowley with VH from back then but so far none have surfaced that I know of. Neil Zlozower has several shots of Kim Fowley with The Runaways from '76 on his Atlas Icons site.

Aw, c'mon - I love reading Kristry's posts, but Kim Fowley hated the real hippies!!! Really he did.

Yeah, he was an old fuddy-duddy, of the "I-saw-more-than-you-ever-will" variety, but he did really hate the true hippies.

Makes no sense.

Why worry about it? He's dead.
