Awesome. SRV was the man. The complete opposite of that poor young girl. All soul and feeling. A true master.

@1985

...since, you know, most of you already live there.

And what's wrong with that? Up until 1989, it was the last gasp of musical profundity.

Soon afterward, the world was misbegotten with urban angst via the somewhat questionable talents of Nirvana and Pearl Jam, crummy rap and fake soul music masquerading as pop singles.

Fuck that shit. I will proudly and unashamedly remain in an era that brought about The Beastie Boys, Husker Du, The Replacements, Sonic Youth, The Butthole Surfers, Violent Femmes, The Cure, The Smiths, Drivin' N Cryin'... as well as some of Lou Reed's best ever solo work.

My regret is I give short service and notice to the hundreds of other deserving artists and bands that I have failed to list...

Not what I meant - or what you think I meant.

I'm surprised you have such a ignorant, low-tolerance towards music post 1985.

Dear Kristy, most music went to crap right about that time. We were lucky Metallica still had gas in the tank, not to mention SRV. The problem you youngsters have is a mediocre reference point at which you were coming of age. You liked the first crap you heard at age 12. You should blame your lame parents for listening to Vanilla Ice and Chumbawamba.

1985 was a pretty good year. Man the club scene around then was phenomenal. It was a party. People worked hard and played hard. I don't remember much sitting around an whining. There was a lot of optimism then.

One of the few players that actually give me goose bumps. I still watch that old SRV stuff and it still blows me away.

No, your generation was so blinded by MTV and 'Miami Vice' about that time

Metallica was always shit. Stevie was a drunk and possibly a junkie who fuck-wasted his talent. My father was a musician who played Brubeck and Monk. Seems your generation never got over being 12 so please go back to your Martha Quinn masturbation sessions and just shut the fuck up.

You know, in '85 there was Madonna doing the pretty same stuff - Material Girl, or whatever -, and her music addressed and found a certain audience. I would devote my ears to something different. No way I would start listening to Katy Perry now whereas I wouldn't Madonna 30 years ago. I'd still rather have vintage spirits than fruit juice. :)

Here's the point I should have made. Back then, and going back to the 50's, a lot of bands were making a lot of good music. You could buy a record that was completely listenable. That seemed to change in the 90's when bands making one good song.

Wait a second...ME, ignorant? What you remark is definitely NOT what I was implying...I was stating that anything POST 1989 was (and remains) not worthy of notice.

Yes, there were a few hit or miss things in the 1990s, around seven or eight tracks between 2001-2014. Wow, what a track record of musical excellence.

No, I refuse to accept certain "realities" thrust or forced upon me. I accept only what I see and believe. If that includes a certain amount of discounting certain parts of recorded musical history out of total dismay or absolute horror, how does that make me any different from you, Kris?

Maybe I do NOT fully exist in 2015. Yet I am not at all embarrassed by the notion, in the least bit. And I state that with a sense of pride and conviction.

This is how I live and somewhat survive, Kris. I make no apologies. I get through work, feed my family, pay my bills. If I wanna listen to stuffy old music that lights me up, I will.

And I refuse to take any shit for my choices (not that you should, either).

Just don't piss on my back and tell me it's raining.
