This is true. It doesn't figure a great deal in sports coverage here in the UK. I don't know about the rest of Europe. I think they tried to start up an American Football league in recent decades, but the thing is sport is really a deeply cultural thing. It's in the place, and it's in people's histories and traditions. There's a reason why it's American Football and not Australian Rules Football or Rugby.

Those are all sports that in their own ways have found it difficult or impossible to transplant into other cultures that don't have some sort of shared history. Rugby is more widely played, but mostly -- with a few exceptions (Romania, Italy, etc) it is a sport of the ex-British Empire. So, it's mainly a cultural thing, part of the cultural heritage.

I used to live in one of those myself. A Land Commander. I was living with a friend and he had a cat. I'm allergic to cats. My bad. It was Carolina's second loss in the Superbowl not Newton's. Since I rarely watch tv I was unaware Newton was such a prick. Last thoughts on a not so Super Bowl. The tougher team won. Broncos hit harder, played harder, they just wanted it more. Newton didn't attempt to recover his fumble. Ginn couldn't run out of bounds fast enough anytime she touched the ball. Panthers were out classed yesterday, end of the story. If Newton is half as good as he thinks he is he will use this to get better and become a better team leader. Manning broke every record that could be broken and in the end he needed a top defense to carry him to his second ring. Scam can learn a lot from that. Will be interesting to see if he actually does.
