Jerry Hall and Rupert Murdoch have announced their engagement in a newspaper article, just four months into their romance.

Rupert, the executive chairman of News Corporation, which owns The Times, announced the news on the Births, Marriages and Deaths page of the newspaper.

The classified ad read: 'Mr Rupert Murdoch, father of Prudence, Elisabeth, Lachlan, James, Grace and Chloe Murdoch, and Miss Jerry Hall, mother of Elizabeth, James, Georgia and Gabriel Jagger are delighted to announce their engagement.'

A spokesperson for the Murdoch family told MailOnline: ‘They have loved these past months together, are thrilled to be getting married and excited about their future.’

It's marriage number four for Rupert and a first for Jerry. Her unofficial ceremony to Rolling Stone rocker Mick Jagger were declared invalid after they split in 1999.

The newspaper adds that the loved-up pair got engaged over the weekend and they made a public declaration of their love when they were spotted arm-in-arm on the Golden Globes red carpet.

There was no visible ring on Jerry's hand as she walked the red carpet hand in hand with her man a the Beverly Hilton.

The glamorous outing comes just over three months after it was revealed that Rupert and Jerry had struck up a relationship, having first been introduced in Australia by his sister and niece, and two years after the media baron ended his 14-year marriage to Wendi Deng.

They made their public debut at the rugby World Cup Final between New Zealand and Australia at Twickenham in October.

A source said: ‘He is very happy, and she makes him laugh.’

MailOnline has contacted a spokesperson for both Jerry Hall and Rupert Murdoch for comment.

Both Jerry and Rupert looked happy and relaxed as they smiled for the cameras on the carpet at the Golden Globes.

Jerry modelled an elegant floor-length black gown, which was embellished with stunning sequin detail, while Rupert opted for a dapper suit and tie combination, finishing his look off with a pair of tinted glasses.

Jerry left her blonde hair hanging in loose waves around her shoulders, and paired her chic ensemble with a simple black and silver clutch bag and a pair of pointed-toe black pumps.

And once inside the award ceremony, the couple were lucky enough to share a table with some of Hollywood's most illustrious stars, with Jerry being seated next to Best Actor in a Motion Picture nominee Matt Damon.

The real winner: While Rupert's home nation lost in the match to New Zealand, he still looked more than happy to have Jerry there to console him

Rupert and Jerry's appearance at the Globes marks one of the few times that they have stepped out together as a couple.

In October, the pair attended the final of the Rugby World Cup in London together to lend their support to Rupert's home nation of Australia as they went up - and eventually lost against - New Zealand in the sporting battle.

At the time, a family friend of the Murdochs told The Mail on Sunday: 'It's all very new. They are really enjoying each other's company very much.'

Another friend elaborated: 'He is very fond of her. There is no question that they are a couple,' before adding that both Rupert and Jerry's children were aware of the relationship.

The blossoming romance is the first for Rupert since his very public split from his ex-wife Wendi Deng, who was pictured walking past the late David Bowie's apartment on Monday in New York.

His split from the Chinese businesswoman - who he met when she was interning at one of his TV stations - in 2013, followed rumors of her 'infatuation' with former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

Rupert Murdoch’s engagement to and impending nuptials with Jerry Hall will make it the fourth time the media guru says ‘I do’.

And while this will be Murdoch’s fourth marriage, technically at least, this will be Jerry Hall’s second attempt at wedded bliss.

Her first nuptials were with long-time love, Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger, back in 1990.

They met in 1977 but Jagger disputes that their marriage in 1990 (in Bali) was ever legal. They had four children together and divorced in 1999.

84-year-old Murdoch has a total of six children from his three marriages and each has a share in the company profits, if not the running of his vast media empire.

Daughter Prudence (Prue) was his first born and only child to Patricia Booker, a flight attendant from Melbourne. They were married for 11 years, divorcing in 1967.

Elisabeth, Lachlan and James were his children to Glasgow-born journalist Anna Torv (Anna Murdoch Mann). They were together for 32 years and divorced in 1999. It’s believed she walked away with a settlement worth $1.7 billion.

Grace and Chloe are his two daughters with Wendi Deng. They divorced in 2013 after 14 years of marriage.

Of those six children, only his two sons are directly involved in the running of his business.

Jerry Hall’s financial future seems even more assured. Already boasting a net worth estimated at $15 million, she will also become heiress to a billionaire’s fortune.

Also seemingly secure is youngest son James, 43, who despite the fallout from the phone-tapping scandal which closed the News of the World, was recently installed CEO of 21st Century Fox, and has a net worth estimated at $160 million.

His older brother Lachlan, 44, has been reinstated 10 years after breaking away from the family to set up his own empire in Australia. He has returned to take up a role as co-executive chairman of 21st Century Fox and his future within the family business appears assured once more.

Daughter Elisabeth Murdoch, 47, boasts a significant personal fortune and while her business acumen has long been lauded by her father, any future role within the company is unclear. Her company Shine was actually bought by Rupert Murdoch, from which she reportedly earned upwards of $320 million. However, she was critical of her brother James’ handling of the phone-hacking scandal which led to the demise of News of the World.

Prudence Murdoch, 57, is the eldest of Rupert’s children, a daughter from his first wife Patricia. She married a News Corp executive, is believed to be part of the large share pool set aside for all six siblings and also has voting rights. It is not clear if she has any other involvement in the family business.

Grace, 14, and Chloe, 12, are Rupert Murdoch’s two children with third wife Wendi Deng. Their father originally included them both in a stock pool estimated at $2 billion back in 2006 to be shared by all siblings (about $300 million each) but the sisters are not thought to have any voting rights.

Wendy Deng, his third wife, was given the $44 million New York apartment and another in Beijing worth about $20 million and undisclosed assets as per the couple’s pre-nuptial agreement but she has no equity in the company and no voting rights in the operation.

But Rupert is no stranger to commitment, having been married twice before his relationship with Wendi, first to Patricia Booker, a former flight attendant from Melbourne, and then to Scottish journalist Anna Torv.

He was said to be hurt over his break-up with third wife Wendi Deng.

It was reported shortly afterwards that Tony Blair was seeing Miss Deng in his home without his knowledge.

Meanwhile Jerry had a 20-year-old relationship with Rolling Stones rocker Mick Jagger, which ended in 1999. The couple have four children together, two daughters - Elizabeth and Georgia - and two sons - Gabriel and James.

Rupert has six children from his relationships with his three previous wives, including two daughters, Chloe and Grace, from his marriage to Wendi.

Previous boyfriends include George Waud, a film producer, a banker, Tim Attias, and her most recent squeeze scientist Armand Leroi.

Before Mr Leroi, she enjoyed an intense romance with millionaire property tycoon Warwick Hemsley.

During her time with Mr Leroi she said: ‘I’d like to settle down with someone. There’s nothing nicer than someone who is loving and caring.

Deng is the mother of two of Murdoch's children and he has been single since the pair split in 2013

‘Getting married again is a nice idea. Actually, I don’t think you’d need to get married: it’s the company that would be nice. But I haven’t met the right person to get married to since my divorce from Mick.’

Miss Hall told an interviewer three years ago: ‘They’re The One … then they’re The One before The One.’

A friend said: ‘Jerry still harbours a deep affection for Jagger, which is one reason she has never married anyone else — although it is pointed out that if she did, she would probably have to forfeit her magnificent home in Richmond, South-West London.’

‘Above all, Jerry craves security,’ another said. ‘She likes to feel that she is going to be taken care of by a man — which perhaps comes from being raised dirtpoor in Texas.’ She has said that her alcoholic dad beat her and her four sisters so viciously he ‘broke bones’.

And while Rupert and Jerry's relationship may be unlikely, their appearance at the Golden Globes will probably come as no surprise to those who know him best. Indeed, Rupert has attended the award ceremony on a number of occasions in the past, often on the arm of his ex-wife Wendi.

The former couple attended the glittering awards event in 2011, 2012, and 2013, where they joined scores of stars on the red carpet, just like Jerry and Rupert did this year.

The couple had three children together and remained married for more than 30 years until eventually splitting in 1999.

Details are sparse but it is reported that the divorce could have cost him $1.7billion.

Just weeks after the divorce, Murdoch married Wendi Deng, from China, who he met while she was an intern at a TV station owned by News Corp, Murdoch’s company.

She was 38 years his junior and had previously been married to a man 30 years older than her.

Murdoch and Deng split in 2013 and since then then he remained single until news of his relationship to former model Jerry Hall – 25 years his junior - was announced last year.

Miss Hall was famous for her marriage to Rolling Stones wildchild Mick Jagger. However, she had a star-studded relationship history long before meeting him.

She moved to Paris as a model in the 70s and was reportedly the girlfriend of Brian Ferry, appearing on the cover of his band Roxy Music’s first album Sirens.

They split five months later, but she also appeared in a 1976 video for his solo hit Let’s Stick Together.

By then she was one of the world’s most famous models and met Mick Jagger in 1976.

They have four children together and had an unofficial marriage ceremony in Bali in 1990, but split in 1999, because of his infidelity, Hall claimed.

After that, she had a number of younger lovers, starting with film producer George Waud, then London banker Tim Attias, 49.

She then met scientist Armand Leroi, 51, but the two split last year, before her relationship to Murdoch was announced when they were pictured at the Rugby

I don't like how the title of your thread makes her look like a gold digger when she's obviously very much in love.
