Jimmy Bain, former Rainbow/Dio bassist, dead at 68

Happened across a couple of stories stating Jimmy Bain passed away yesterday. Apparently it has been confirmed by ex-Dio drummer Simon Wright as well as a longtime employee of Wendy Dio's Niji Management company. No details on cause of death available.

What a shame. Saw him 2x w/ Dio in the 80s. Good, good hard rock bassist.

Also a connection to DLR in that Brian Young used to be in a band with him.

Heard some sad news today. My buddy Jimmy Bain passed away. We did a record together about 10 years ago in a band called 3 Legged Dogg. He was a super nice guy. RIP Jimmy....

Yet another guy in his late 60s, I'm starting to wonder if that's how long the human body lasts if you live a rock n roll lifestyle without being totally stupid about it...

I guess but then you only get to 27 like Jones, Joplin, Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain and Amy Whitehouse.

He died on the cruise ship?

LAST IN LINE performed in Miami, Florida on January 20 and is currently taking part in DEF LEPPARD's inaugural "Hysteria On The High Seas" cruise.

Cruise ships are very used to dealing with passengers dying on them, goes with the demographic.

I've just realized Sammy Hagar turns 69 this year...

Yeah, but doubtless he (like Jon Bon Jovi and the rest of the B-list/2nd rate rockers) will live to a ripe old age of 80+, thus giving us at least a dozen more years of Red Rockin', Cabo Wabo swillin', jive-free good time music!

                      Everybody, altogether now:

                      It's got what it takes
'Cuz that's what dreams are made of
                      I love my baby's poundcake
Her love is drivin' me crazy
                      I can't stop lovin' you
Catch that magic moment right now
                      I can't drive 55
                      Winner takes it all

                      etc.
