When you hear that people always mention John Bonham, Neil Pert etc. Some even mention Stewart Copland.
But underrated drummers like Alex barley?!

Recently started checking deeper into Terry Bozzio from Missing Persons and WOW! I think he would blow Neil & Bonham out the water!

Thoughts?

Think I'm with c dog on this one. Terry Bozzio was good, but he's not remotely the best.

He and Jeff Beck deserve a lot of credit for making Jagger's solo album "Primitive Cool" listenable, because it otherwise wasn't Mick's best work.

fanboy
A pathetic insult often used by fanboys themselves to try and put down people who don't like whatever it is they like.
Not that Bozzio is a bad drummer. I just don't care for the material I've heard from him. Bonham, Moon and Peart are at the top of the pecking order IMO.

Rumored to be the real reason the Stones pulled the "Rock n Roll Circus" from it's planned airdate in the 1968 holiday season, and wouldn't release it for another 29 years.

They hated being upstaged by The Who at their own show. http://www.cosgan.de/images/smilie/teufel/d025.gif

By the way.... anybody who puts a video on YouTube that was recorded from some other electronic device via cellphone or webcam.... really needs to be disemboweled with a dull rusty pitchfork.

The only thing that sucks worse than RIAA fascists censoring YouTube, is unwatchable content meant to get around the fascists.

Aww what's the matter I hurt your feelings, can't take criticism?! I think you've been here long enough to know how this place gets down!

And dude you contradict yourself with your statement but whatever.

I'm a Neil fan like alot of people but my favorite drummer of course is big Al along with Stewart Copland. But as I stated over the years I've been checking out other drummers and their are some beasts out there like Mike Portnoy, Charlie Benante etc

No hurt feelings here. I've been called much worse things than fanboy here.
I don't think I contradicted myself. I never said Bozzio sucked, I just don't think he's a better drummer than Bonham or Peart based on what I've heard from him. This drum solo doesn't impress me much.

(the late) Tom Ardolino of the massively unknown, but brilliant - in their day - NRBQ. If you like rock and roll. He could swing.

The question (as I saw it) was is Bozzio a better drummer than those guys? IMO he is not.

ShiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiTTT!!!! for the 50th time in the 50th thread titled best drummer I feel,( yeah feel) once again compelled to -SKOOL- you homos!

Best is singularily regressable and "of a time" -some drummer- are the best just in one song some are the best during a era of time..blaa blaaa and opinions are based on very complicated rhythms'.

I do feel that I can say some drummers listed here are great but seem more like a studio drummer with a permanent set inside the Warner Brothers orchestra pit and their set and style is more of a bing bang wirrr zand flapp flam designed specifically for adding the background to every --Bugs Bunn--y cartoon for the last sixty years. Perhaps some of the greatest musician / drummers... are just sync'ing a cartoon background 65 years ago lost in the shuffle.....best ...rock ....??? drummer....specific generalization parameters.

And then there is -best band without- XYZ drummer would be worthless...Oh he was great there but not there....etc.

So much coc co synco patty aye tion and diss the old drummer who brung yah...punks....yeah style...

I like so many and can listen to half assed shit music as long as the drummer can hold it down...very important part of the presentation is the drummer.

To the point last 20 years best this dude by far.

Best looking drummer ever: Defines "Drummer Face" while playing: Super "Tasty" drummer...does just enough for the song...but knows how to drive the whole band: John Weathers. One of the best drummers you never heard of: Please watch the whole song before commenting:

And one from a more current era: BubbleMath Rocks:

Music students (and their teacher) at Eskilstuna Musikskola perform a simplified version of Just the same by Gentle Giant.

I can tell you that the best drummer I've seen is Dave Lombardo (Slayer). Unreal. There are plenty of modern metal drummers who are dazzling technicians, but I know that many don't go in for that.

it all depends on what you want, doesn't it. Peart for technique, surely. Bonham for thunder. I've always thought than Ian Paice doesn't quite get the credit he deserves (maybe because Purple have declined creatively), and that Cozy Powell was phenomenal.
