This guy needs his own thread, you need to watch him. I just finished the latest Jon Ronson book where he describes him and his key role with Trump.

He is Trump's chief advisor and has been for some time. He does the 'black ops' stuff, the dirty fighting. He supposedly left the Trump campaign a year ago to give him free reign and deniability. In Ronson's book he runs into him still at the centre of it during the summer.

He used to work for Nixon(he has a tattoo of him on his back) and then started a PR firm working for murderous dictators. He's the source of a lot of the more out there conspiracy theory shit that Trump sometimes comes out with and is the link between him and Alex Jones at infowars.

Stone claims to have organized the so-called “Brooks Brothers riot,” which helped George W. Bush win the decisive Florida recount, he's behind the 'rigged election' stuff, the Cruz dad JFK story, that Bush Family “Tried To Kill” President Reagan and probably was the one that started the whole Obama birth certificate thing with Trump.

He pledged to disclose the hotels and hotel room numbers of anti-Trump delegates at the Republican National Convention online to get them beat up.

He's a holocaust,Sandy Crook and 9-11 denier.

Roger Stone, a longtime adviser to Donald Trump, says the president-elect interviewed Mitt Romney for the secretary of State position just to "torture him" for his former criticism.

In an appearance on InfoWars Sunday, Stone said Trump had been toying with Romney.

Since Roger Stone worked for the BCE, anything he claims they did might actually be accurate. He is one of the worst assholes ever produced by that rancid pack of fascists, obviously. His disciples like Lee Atwater & Karl Rove have either died or faded from prominence and yet Roger himself seems too evil to drop off the planet.

Maybe that's because not even Hell wants him?

I wouldn't believe a single thing he says but that doesn't mean that what he says is unimportant.

Quite the reverse since Trump repeats what Stone tells him.

Stone is a long-time creep going way, way back, to be sure.

Still a marginal trickster at best, and not nearly as historically relevant as he thinks, professes and wishes he were.

Even with the claims he made, the "Brooks Brothers riot" was one of a thousand fucked up things that went screwy during the Florida recount. The Cruz Dad JFK story was one of a thousand banana peels Establishment GOP candidates slipped on trying to grapple with Trump and the Birther faction was never large enough to have been decisive: the Birthers weren't going to vote for Obama anyway, even if Birtherism hadn't taken hold. None of these activities were even close to being weighty enough on their own to be pendulum-swinging. Much the same applies to Stone's "putting socks on" Spitzer, or the WikiLeaks biz in the 2016 election.

The type of people Stone's pranks actually have sway with are the same types of people who think Elvis is still alive, living with Bigfoot and Michael Jackson in Area 51: these sort of cranks will believe whatever they're told from whatever source, thus if it weren't Stone and Alex Jones it'd be supermarket tabloids and Rush Limbaugh. Most likely a combination of all of them.

We will see how loyal Trump is to his buddies. Roger Stone and Trump go back almost 40 years. Stone was working for the Reagan campaign and Trump donated office space for Reagan’s campaign headquarters. They have been friends since then. So we will see if Trump pardons Stone. Anyways Stone was an eccentric character and most politicos are slimey characters. Maybe all of Washington DC needs to be thrown in jail.

Terry

Has Trump ever displayed an appreciable (or any other) amount of loyalty to anyone - other than himself - once these people are outside the pull of Trump's orbit and are no longer of any use to him?

I say that not out of spite or smarm, but simply as a matter of factual inquiry.

For Trump pardoning Stone (or Manafort, or Flynn, or any of the rest) at the very least implies a degree of admitting that Trump approved Stone's wrongdoing, regardless of Trump proclaiming that Stone was "wrongfully convicted because of the partisan witch hunt that wanted to lynch me" or some such rationale. It involves appearances, and alongside Trump's lack of loyalty to anyone other than himself the one thing Donald Trump cannot ever publicly admit is that he was wrong to the slightest degree about anything, ever re: how that would reflect on Trump's public appearance.

I'd say maybe, should Trump not decide to run next year (which seems highly unlikely), he'll issue a bunch of pardons (Stone, Manafort, Flynn, etc.) in his last week of holding the presidency...and may well pardon himself for any and all crimes committed prior to and including the entirety of his presidency up until the moment of his departure from office.

Trump’s commutation of Roger Stone’s sentence is an unforgivable betrayal of his office

THERE ARE no doubt thousands of people in federal prison who deserved a presidential commutation more than Roger Stone. But after President Trump’s intervention on Friday, Mr. Stone will serve none of his prison sentence. The president may have had the power to help his longtime friend. But that does not make it any less a perversion of justice — indeed, it is one of the most nauseating instances of corrupt government favoritism the United States has ever seen.

There is no doubt about Mr. Stone’s guilt. During the 2016 presidential campaign, he tried to play intermediary between WikiLeaks, which had become a front for the Kremlin, and the Trump campaign, which reaped the benefits of WikiLeaks’s publication of stolen Democratic emails. A jury concluded that Mr. Stone obstructed Congress, lied to investigators and tampered with a witness in the investigations that followed the 2016 race — “covering up for the president,” as the judge in his case noted.

Though Attorney General William P. Barr moved to reduce Mr. Stone’s sentencing recommendation after conviction, even he called the case against Mr. Stone a “righteous” prosecution. He was sentenced to 40 months in prison and was due to surrender on Tuesday — thus prompting Mr. Trump’s Friday night action.

On Feb. 20, 2020, Roger Stone was sentenced to three years and four months in prison. President Trump commuted Stone’s sentence on July 10, 2020. (Monica Akhtar, Erin Patrick O'Connor/The Washington Post)
As Mr. Trump discussed granting clemency to his criminal friend, Mr. Barr publicly defended the sentence, perhaps to prevent a mutiny among Justice Department staff who signed up because they believe in the rule of law, not the arbitrary rule of an unusually petty man in the White House.

Now, the department’s career investigators and prosecutors must absorb yet another insult to their profession from political leaders who abuse their trust. We can only sympathize with their impossible position. A Justice Department brain drain would only reduce fairness and competence in federal law enforcement. It would no doubt take years of rebuilding to reattract the talent that Mr. Trump’s rule has already repelled from the department, let alone to replace a late-term exodus of staff. Yet we can blame no one in the Justice Department for misgivings or feelings of complicity with a wayward presidency. We hope that the coming presidential election will soon offer them — and the nation that relies on them — relief.

The United States is supposed to be a place in which laws apply equally to all. And while it never has — and never will — live up to that ideal in full, no modern president before Mr. Trump has so clearly renounced it. The president seems to be doing his best, within the confines of the U.S. constitutional system, to emulate the gangster leadership of Russian President Vladimir Putin, a man whose ruinous reign Mr. Trump has always admired. If the country needed any more evidence, Friday confirmed that the greatest threat to the Republic is the president himself.

Admittedly, I was a bit surprised by the commutation, strictly in terms of the timing of it, in that I figured Trump would at least wait until after the election (whatever the result).

Wasn't surprised in the least that Trump gave Stone a Get Out Of Jail card in terms of the action itself. Only the timing of it. And now, apparently Flynn is going to be welcomed back into the White House fold once his legal troubles recede, and might possibly publicly campaign for Trump in an official capacity in the meantime.

Yeah. Kolob Ale was a Wasatch Brewery product. Both Wasatch and Squatters would come up with beer names that made fun of the Mormons. Kolob would be a better name for absinthe. I would put a hunk of a god surrounded by hot women on the surface of a white hot star for the label and call it the portal to exalted heaven.
