Trump winning the election has breathed new life into fading political relics (Gingrich, Giuliani, Perry), enhanced the D-List standing of a bunch of hacks and hams (Bannon, Miller, Spicer, Conway, Lord), elevated the profile of 2nd and 3rd rate political actors (Carson, Pence, Walker,) and bolstered the waning relevance - or, in some cases, actually legitimized fringe outlets - of conservative/hard right media hucksters (Hannity, Breitbart, Stone). Without Trump, most of those people mentioned above would be wafting into the ether right about now, confined to Fox News for those who had a profile prior to Trump's campaign and for those who didn't have such a profile one tends to doubt you'd ever have heard of them going forward outside of some CPAC guest speaker slot.
Alex Jones is somewhat interesting because he doesn't lend himself to as neat or clear a classification, but that has more to do with the scatterbrained and lengthy nature of his ranting than anything else. Sadly, he was somewhat more listenable (emphasis on 'somewhat') for short bursts several years back, strictly as entertainment to be sure...but his now seemingly perpetual "I'm mad as hell and not gonna take it any more!" tone grows tiresome very quickly. Nearly as quickly as Trump's constant stream of lies, distortions and evasions. That these two are feeding off of each other wouldn't even be of interest but for the fact that one is the President.

I'd agree that if one is following US politics closely these days, totally ignoring Alex Jones is impossible, precisely because the President seems to hold some of what he says in high regard. Thus, it's inevitable one will see abbreviated bursts of Jones ranting clips here and there.
Overall, the vast bulk of what Jones is doing is usually very easy to ignore, at least in terms of having to physically watch and listen to the guy. His impact on Trump might prove not as easy to ignore in terms of what Trump does and the effects that will have, but it's not as if one has to sit and watch an entire Jones webcast and parse every word on a regular basis...unless one (for reasons I don't even want to contemplate) feels some masochistic need to do so.
