Next month, Variety magazine will host its annual “Women in Power” luncheon, where it will pass out honors and awards to several lucky ladies who have dedicated their lives to the service of others.

The “Lifetime Impact Honorees” are all women whose work in 2016 and before have made the world a better place.

This year, for no apparent reason, Chelsea Clinton, the daughter of former President Bill Clinton and former Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, will get a one of those awards for her service to…well, that part’s not quite clear.

But she’ll be honored for her achievement anyway.

According to Variety (in partnership with Lifetime networks), the women will get the award for “their humanitarian work,” as well as their impact on the fields of entertainment and media. Included in this year’s group is Jessica Chastain, who has led a one-woman campaign in support of Planned Parenthood and O-magazine editor and Oprah BFF Gayle King, who uses her fortune to help the homeless and destitute in New York City.

Other honorees have fought child sex trafficking, helped homeless youth, and funded a vast network of legal clinics to aid the marginalized.

Chelsea Clinton, it says, is vice chair of the Clinton Foundation. A foundation she only works for because her parents founded it to keep their wealth flowing in the years they don’t spend running for public office. But it helps children.

Chelsea’s many other endeavors—authoring books that don’t sell, being snarky on Twitter, and serving on the board of several large-scale tech firms, operated by major Democratic donors—were oddly left out of her official biography.

Four hundred people are expected to attend the April 21st luncheon, one of the largest gatherings of powerful women each year. It’s almost certain Chelsea will attend, despite her crowded social calendar.

Well... it's still not as bad as a heroin smuggling, terrorist training, assassination coordinator getting the "Presidential Medal of Freedom". But it's still fucking stupid. Chelsea (along with her parents) needs to move back to Arkansas and never be heard from again.

It'd be good for ALL of the Clintons to just...go...away.

Fuck's sake, less than a week after Hillary lost last fall, the Clintons are out there floating trial balloons in the press about Chelsea running for a NY Congressional seat. On the basis of what? Her work at the Clinton Foundation?

You've STILL got these diehard Clintonoids floating Hillary 2020 at Democratic Leadership Council meetings.

Goddamn ridiculous.

Shit, I VOTED for Hillary, and I'd just as soon she step back and let new faces and new ideas rebuild the party. That Clinton liberal-lite, Dick Morris-generated triangulation was what it was in the 1990s. It did a lot of good for Bill Clinton. It didn't really serve middle-class Democrats well overall in the long run, truth be told.

Who knows? It honestly won't surprise me if Hillary makes another run 3 years from now. Hopefully, should that come to pass, Democratic primary voters will have finally learned that there is no 'inevitability' to Hillary Clinton being President. She couldn't close the deal in 2008, and she couldn't close the deal in 2016. She lost first to a guy virtually nobody had ever heard of, and then she lost to the single most flawed (and singularly inexperienced) person ever to run for the presidency. She's yesterday's news.

And Chelsea has even less to recommend her.

That die hard Hillary crowd are like a crazy religious cult and their god is Hillary. Hillary has some kind of health problem. She's going downhill. Bill already looks like a corpse. I think in reality the Clintons might as well be on the moon right now.

They mostly live in the wealthy part of the Southern Tier of New York, where the Chautauqua Institution is...

That crowd really ARE like a crazy religious cult.

I don't meet a lot of working class people who are fervent Clinton supporters these days, or in the 2 years prior to the last election. It usually tended to be people making over 6 figures who were into what George Carlin coined as NIMBY (not in my back yard) sort of soft democrats, where their positions were centrist to the point where calling themselves Democrats wasn't particularly meaningful: if the choice had been between, say, Sanders and Jeb Bush, these people would have been more likely to press the screen for Jeb.

I have known a dozen or so people for decades who were pretty strong Clinton advocates, but by the time this past election cycle was over after all the email server business, the foggy details of various Clinton Foundation transactional endeavors and all the rest...it was as if 25 years of obfuscation, qualification, parsing, compromising, lawyerly evasions and always having to take equal amounts of bad with the good where the Clintons are concerned (and putting all of that into the greater context of what exactly we got for supporting them all these years - a meager payoff at best) all came to a head. And these dozen odd people told me they finally had had enough of the Clintons.

And, much like former cult members, these people would let loose with all these pent-up rants about both of the Clintons they had kept quiet about for years.

Hopefully, the bloom is finally off the rose where Bill and Hillary are concerned.
