CBS Newsman Charlie Rose Accused By Eight Women Of ‘Unwanted Sexual Advances’: Report

CBS This Morning co-anchor Charlie Rose today became the latest high-profile media personality to be accused of sexual harassment, according to a report in the Washington Post. Rose also offered an apology for his behavior. The Post reported,

“Eight women have told The Washington Post that longtime television host Charlie Rose made unwanted sexual advances toward them, including lewd phone calls, walking around naked in their presence, or groping their breasts, buttocks or genital areas.

“The women were employees or aspired to work for Rose at the Charlie Rose show from the late 1990s to as recently as 2011. They ranged in age from 21 to 37 at the time of the alleged encounters. Rose, 75, whose show airs on PBS, also co-hosts “CBS This Morning” and is a contributing correspondent for “60 Minutes.”

There are striking commonalities in the accounts of the women, each of whom described their interactions with Rose in multiple interviews with The Post. For all of the women, reporters interviewed friends, colleagues or family members who said the women had cconfided in them about aspects of the incidents. Three of the eight spoke on the record.”

Florida Democratic chairman resigns over allegations of being creepy

Stephen Bittel's rocky tenure as Florida Democratic Party chairman ended in disgrace Friday after he resigned following accusations from women that he leered at them, made suggestive comments and created an unprofessional work environment.

Bittel said he is working with party leaders to set a date to elect his successor.

Elected in January after a contentious internal campaign, Bittel lasted less than a year on the job. His departure marks the latest case of sexual impropriety shaking the state Capitol.

Bittel's position became untenable after all four major Democratic candidates for Florida governor urged his ouster following a Politico Florida report late Thursday in which six women anonymously complained about Bittel's behavior. They said he was "creepy" and "demeaning." Bittel apologized, but it was not enough.

Vice Chairwoman Judy Mount, the former head of the Jackson County Democratic Executive Committee, will serve as the party's interim chief and then seek the position permanently. Tampa activist Alan Clendenin, a past chairman candidate, said he will also run.

The calls for Bittel's resignation from Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum, former U.S. Rep. Gwen Graham, former Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine and Orlando businessman Chris King made it impossible for Bittel to continue at the party helm.

Good riddance to Bittel. He's a Turd Way Hillbot cunt and close friend of Debbie Scatterbrained Lush.

Find the Charlie Rose accusations a little suspicious though... he's a 75 year old man who just had heart surgery a couple months back. Doubt he's having sex with anybody, including himself.

Multiple women accuse Minnesota state Senator Dan Schoen of sexual harassment

Minnesota state Sen. Dan Schoen sexually harassed women involved in state politics while serving as a DFL lawmaker, according to multiple women who have spoken to MinnPost. Schoen, currently a first-term senator from St. Paul Park, previously served two terms in the House. He also works as a paramedic and police officer in Cottage Grove.

The women describe behavior by Schoen that ranges from persistent and unwanted invitations to meet to physically grabbing a woman from behind. One woman, who asked to not be identified, said he sent her a photo of male genitalia via Snapchat.

Schoen, who was presented with the allegations in a meeting with MinnPost, was aware of each incident but said in a subsequent statement that the allegations are “either completely false or have been taken far out of context. It was never my intention to leave the impression I was making an inappropriate advance on anyone. I feel terrible that someone may have a different interpretation of an encounter, but that is the absolute truth. I also unequivocally deny that I ever made inappropriate contact with anyone.”

They seem to apply to when he was in his 50s and 60s.

The lack of self awareness is pathetic with these guys, they think a 21 year old girl is going to see his 65 year old naked body and be overcome with lust?

Seems to work for Mick Jagger. He just fathered another kid a few months back. I would say it was for the money, but with all the ex wives and ex girlfriends he's already paid off, how big of a jackpot could be left for the next one?

He is notoriously careful with his money, he's still got $300m+ and I would think it would be the glamour of the high living and fame not his Mr Burns body that would be the attraction.

Looks like he dropped that one who is 31 for a 22 year old...

Four more women accuse Mark Halperin of harassment, bringing total to at least a dozen

Two days after CNN first reported that five women said "Game Change" co-author and journalist Mark Halperin sexually harassed or assaulted them during his time at ABC News, the number of accusers has grown to at least a dozen women, including four who are now sharing their accounts for the first time. Another woman, who shared her account in CNN's initial article on the condition her name not be published, is now speaking out on the record.

The new accusations from the four women include that Halperin masturbated in front of an ABC News employee in his office and that he violently threw another woman against a restaurant window before attempting to kiss her, and that after she rebuffed him he called her and told her she would never work in politics or media. The alleged incidents occurred while Halperin was in a position of significant authority at ABC News, while the women were young and had little power.

John Lasseter takes leave from Disney-Pixar as insiders detail pattern of alleged misconduct

By Kim Masters, The Hollywood Reporter

Rashida Jones is still credited as a writer on Toy Story 4, the next installment in the beloved franchise. But, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter, the actress and her writing partner at the time, Will McCormack, left the project early on after John Lasseter, the acclaimed head of Pixar and Walt Disney Animation, made an unwanted advance.

Jones and McCormack did not respond to repeated requests for comment. Disney declined to comment on the alleged incident though a studio source said the departure was over “creative differences.”

Based on the accounts of former Pixar insiders as well as sources in the animation community, the alleged incident was not an isolated occurrence. One longtime Pixar employee says Lasseter, who is well-known for hugging employees and others in the entertainment community, was also known by insiders for “grabbing, kissing, making comments about physical attributes.” Multiple sources say Lasseter is known to drink heavily at company social events such as premiere parties but this source says the behavior was not always confined to such settings.

Congressman Overseeing Sexual Harassment Settlements Investigated By FBI For Campaign Fraud

Pennsylvania Congressman Bob Brady, who oversees the settlements paid by Congress for sexual discrimination complaints, is under FBI investigation for false statements, conspiracy and campaign fraud, documents showed Tuesday.

Brady, a Democrat, is a ranking member of the Committee on House Administration, which gives him power over settlement payments with taxpayer dollars. The office also works to prevent sexual harassment in Congress.

The court papers say the Brady campaign paid a former judge $90,000 to drop out of a 2012 primary race. The judge and onetime Brady rival, Jimmie Moore, was caught and pleaded guilty to falsifying his campaign finances to conceal the payment. Brady’s camp claimed it knew nothing of Moore’s attempts to conceal the donation, but Moore’s lawyer disagreed.

Um, she ain't "ugly". Julia Roberts isn't the prettiest thing but Hathaway is gorgeous...

There are Hollywood actresses that are very well candied up for the camera, but look rough in real life when they aren't starving themselves for a role. Howard Stern said one of his friends turned down a flirting Cameron Diaz saying she looked bad and not nearly as good as a lot of regular women in a bar he was at in the 90's...

Danny Masterson Is Being Written Out of Netflix's The Ranch Amid Rape Accusations

https://jezebel.com/danny-masterson-is-being-written-out-of-netflixs-the-ra-1821032484

At long last, on Tuesday, Netflix announced that actor Danny Masterson, whom four women have accused of rape, is being written off his Netflix series The Ranch, in other words, he’s been fired.

Netflix, which took notably hastier action to rid itself of Kevin Spacey when stories of his own alleged sexual misconduct became news, said in a statement, “As a result of ongoing discussions, Netflix and the producers have written Danny Masterson out of The Ranch. [Monday] was his last day on the show, and production will resume in early 2018 without him.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Masterson’s performance will remain in the second half of the show’s second season. Masterson may also appear in scenes from the already announced third season, depending on how adept the writers are at fading characters into oblivion.

Yesterday, the Huffington Post published an alarming article about a Netflix kids’ programming executive who said he didn’t believe Masterson’s alleged victims (the executive’s spokesperson later called the comment “careless” and not representative of Netflix’s views).

I always like Masterson on That 70's Show, but he seems like a real fucking douche Scientologist...

Terry
12-06-2017, 08:42 PM
Yeah, Masterson was good on That 70's Show. Thought that was a pretty good show. Good ensemble cast.

Not being snarky, but honestly I can't recall a single thing I've seen him in since that show ended: from a business standpoint, the decision to drop him was probably a fairly easy one. It's not like getting him was some great casting coup or anything.

With regard to the allegations, according to Masterson they were investigated by the appropriate law enforcement agency/agencies (I'm assuming from wherever the charges were filed) at the time they were made, and no charges were brought because said agencies didn't find anything actionable. SO Masterson wonders why, that being the case, he was let go from the series.

In the present climate, just the allegations alone are enough to make the person they are brought against radioactive. These various companies aren't bothering with trying to parse the truth of the allegations of each accuser, instead taking the position that having the accused working for them simply isn't worth the trouble.

Worked with a guy in my industry a couple of years ago who had allegations made against him by a client regarding inappropriate advances/behavior. Once the complaint was made, the company instructed him not to come into work and to contact the company the next day from home via his home phone for a conference call. Within a minute of the conference call starting, he was told corporate human resources was on the line, the decision had been made to let him go and he was terminated effective immediately. He started to make a case for himself as to why he shouldn't be terminated, then told the others on the conference call that he was going to get a lawyer. The company said he was free to do whatever he thought was in his interests, but he was not to return to work or risk being arrested for trespassing. Within a day of that call, the company had boxed all his personal belongings up and shipped them to his house via signature required FedEx Ground.

He called me a few days after it happened - all we were told was that he was "no longer with the company" and nothing as to why - and told me his side of it. The way he told it, he had been making several lengthy in person sales calls to the client on site at their request to work out the details of a large potential purchase. The client counterparty representative was a woman. He told me SHE was the one making mildly flirtatious suggestions during the meetings, which he politely declined. Since all the behavior was live person to person and there were no emails or anything to back up his version, our company told him they had no choice but to err on the side of caution. Since my state is a right to work state, they legally had the right to terminate him regardless at any time for any reason...and not even give a reason if they so chose.

That whole business fucked his life up good. He lost his job. His wife ended up divorcing him. It was tough for him to get hired on anywhere else.

Granted, I only got his side of the story, and he may well have been lying...but it didn't sound that way when I spoke to him.

Imagine your entire life changing that drastically and quickly, all solely on someone else's word. No trial. No chance to tell your side of the story. And your name and reputation are tarnished forever. Think it can't happen to you because you're not famous? Think again.

Terry Richard, the ex-wife of singer Eddie Fisher, claims Larry King groped her on two separate occasions while they were taking photos together

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5156899/Larry-King-groped-claims-Eddie-Fishers-ex-wife.html

Terry Richard, an ex-wife of singer Eddie Fisher, claims that former CNN talk show host Larry King groped her at a public event on two separate occasions, she told DailyMailTV in an exclusive interview.

Richard says the groping incidents took place in 2005 and again in 2006, both at a baseball awards dinner at Universal Studios, in Los Angeles.

The 63-year-old Richard said in the first incident, while posing together for a photo, King slid his hand down her backless dress and rested his fingers in between her butt cheeks.

The photo, during which King allegedly groped Richard for the first time, was featured in a local newspaper and the clipping was obtained by DailyMailTV.

Richard claims the second time was also while they were taking a photo together, and King, now 84, squeezed her butt so hard that it left a large bruise.

Speaking from her home in Los Angeles, Richard said: 'Larry King is a groper. He groped me twice. He gets a thrill doing this in front of the camera, knowing I couldn't do anything.'

Responding to a comment request from DailyMailTV, King's lawyer said Richard's assertion is false. 'Mr. King did no such thing then or ever.'

That statement was first made public early Monday in an investigation on Eater, the restaurant news website. Eater's report included four accounts of women who claimed that Batali "touched them inappropriately in a pattern of behavior that appears to span at least two decades."

The women, some of whom worked for Batali, claimed he had groped them, according to Eater. The story did not name them.

NFL Network Suspends Marshall Faulk, Ike Taylor, Heath Evans After Sexual Harassment Lawsuit

https://deadspin.com/nfl-network-suspends-marshall-faulk-ike-taylor-heath-1821206708

NFL Network has suspended Marshall Faulk, Ike Taylor and Heath Evans while investigating claims of sexual harassment from a lawsuit filed by one of their former colleagues.

Jami Cantor, who worked as a wardrobe stylist for NFL Network, filed a wrongful termination suit against NFL Enterprises in Los Angeles Superior Court back in October. As first reported by Bloomberg, she described incidents of harassment by the three retired players, as well as Eric Weinberger, a former network executive producer and current president of Bill Simmons Media Group.

In the suit, Cantor claims that Faulk groped her breasts and behind and asked “deeply personal and invasive questions” about her sex life. She said that both Taylor and Weinberger sent her inappropriate pictures, with Taylor additionally sending her a video of him masturbating in the shower. Cantor also noted that Weinberger said on one occasion that she was “put on earth to pleasure me” and pressed his crotch against her, asking her to touch it. She also described receiving explicit texts from former NFL Network analyst Donovan McNabb, who currently appears on ESPN.

Tavis Smiley's show suspended by PBS amid misconduct allegations

http://money.cnn.com/2017/12/13/media/tavis-smiley/index.html

PBS has suspended distribution of "Tavis Smiley" amid "troubling allegations" against the news show's namesake host.

The organization said Wednesday that it had hired an outside law firm to handle an investigation into the matter.

"The inquiry uncovered multiple, credible allegations of conduct that is inconsistent with the values and standards of PBS, and the totality of this information led to today's decision," a statement from PBS reads.

No details about the allegations were released. But Variety, which first reported PBS' suspension of Smiley's show, cited anonymous sources as saying that the investigation "found credible allegations that Smiley had engaged in sexual relationships with multiple subordinates."

In a statement posted on his official Facebook page Wednesday night, Smiley said he was "as shocked as anyone else by PBS' announcement."

"I have never groped, coerced, or exposed myself inappropriately to any workplace colleague in my entire broadcast career, covering 6 networks over 30 years," he said. "Never. Ever. Never."

Smiley, 53, is a longtime radio commentator, TV talk show host and author. His 30-minute interview show, "Tavis Smiley," has aired weeknights on PBS since 2004.

He's known for addressing social justice issues, including race relations and poverty.

In his statement, Smiley said that "if having a consensual relationship with a colleague years ago is the stuff that leads to this kind of public humiliation and personal destruction, heaven help us."

He criticized PBS for its handling of the situation, saying he only learned about the investigation from former staffers and didn't get a proper chance to defend himself.

"This has gone too far. And, I, for one, intend to fight back," he said. "It's time for a real conversation in America, so men and women know how to engage in the workplace. I look forward to actively participating in that conversation."

Smiley's written statement was accompanied by a video of him addressing the allegations.

PBS wasn't immediately available for comment outside of regular office hours early Thursday.

PBS is the distributor for Smiley's show, but it's produced by TS Media, Smiley's production company. Smiley is not employed by PBS.

TS Media could not be immediately reached Wednesday.

Smiley's career includes a stint hosting a TV show on Black Entertainment Television in the 90s as well as a commentator at National Public Radio, ABC News, and CNN. In 2002, he became the first black man to host a show on NPR.

Morgan Spurlock Admits to Past Sexual Misconduct In Social Media Post, Says He's 'Part Of the Problem'

https://jezebel.com/morgan-spurlock-admits-to-past-sexual-misconduct-in-soc-1821286966

On Wednesday night, Super Size Me director Morgan Spurlock shared a post on his Twitter account admitting to past sexual harassment and detailing an encounter after which he was accused of rape. The post, entitled “I Am Part of the Problem,” begins with something I’m sure plenty of men can relate to:

As I sit around watching hero after hero, man after man, fall at the realization of their past indiscretions, I don’t sit by and wonder “who will be next?” I wonder, “when will they come for me?”

Chilling, isn’t it?

Spurlock goes on to admit that he sexually harassed a coworker eight years ago (“...It wasn’t a gropy feely harassment. It was verbal, and it was just as bad.”), cheated on “every wife and girlfriend” he’s ever had, and that a college classmate once accused him of rape.

Kentucky Rep. Dan Johnson Dies of 'Probable Suicide' Days After Molestation Accusation Surfaces

https://theslot.jezebel.com/kentucky-rep-dan-johnson-dies-of-probable-suicide-days-1821277324

WDRB-TV in Louisville reported that 57-year-old Republican state Rep. from Kentucky, Dan Johnson, died on Wednesday on a bridge in Mt. Washington, according to Bullitt County Sheriff Donnie Tinnell. A gun was reportedly recovered from the scene, and a coroner ruled the death a “probable suicide.”

Just a day earlier the lawmaker was staunchly refusing to resign as he faced accusations that he’d molested a member of his church when she was 17 (an accusation he denied).

On Monday, The Kentucky Center for Investigative Reporting published an exposé that featured the allegation that in 2013 Johnson assaulted his daughter’s friend while she was sleeping over at his house. The article claims that Johnson, “started to stroke her arm. He slid his hands up, under her shirt and bra, and groped her. He stuck his tongue in her mouth. Then, he forced his hands down her pants, underneath her underwear, and penetrated her with his finger”

KYCIR released a statement Wednesday evening in response to the news of Johnson’s death:

“All of us at Louisville Public Media are deeply sad to hear that State Representative Dan Johnson has died, apparently of suicide. We grieve for his family, friends, church community and constituents. Our Kentucky Center for Investigative Reporting released a report on Johnson this week. Our aim, as always, is to provide the public with fact-based, unbiased reporting and hold public officials accountable for their actions. As part of our process, we reached out to Representative Johnson numerous times over the course of a seven-month investigation. He declined requests to talk about our findings.”

WDRB reported that Johnson posted a Facebook letter at approximately 5 PM on Wednesday, just before he died. The message reads, in part, “The accusations from NPR are false GOD and only GOD knows the truth, nothing is the way they make it out to be. AMERICA will not survive this type of judge and jury fake news. Conservatives take a stand.” Johnson went on to write, “Forgive and Love everyone especially yourself” and “blame no person, Satan is the accuser so blame the Devil himself.”

Johnson’s friend and occasional spokesperson David Adams said of Johnson’s passing, “The only thing I’d say is to honor his wishes and blame only Satan.”

At the time, I bet that ugly whore loved all the attention she was getting from those big money athletes. She is just mad she looked just good enough to be their ramming stock, but was too ugly to be wife material for any of them.

um, half of the accused are white, and one was a TV exec. or whatever. I do think the the suit sounds a bit convenient in today's climate as it's connected to a wrongful dismissal suit, but there is at least a 50/50 chance these guys are a bunch of chump douchebags...

Report: Jerry Richardson Gave Employees Payouts After His Sexual, Racial Remarks

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2749720-report-jerry-richardson-gave-employees-payouts-after-his-sexual-racial-remarks

The Carolina Panthers and owner Jerry Richardson reportedly reached settlements with four employees of the team, according to a report from L. Jon Wertheim and Viv Bernstein of SI.com, in the form of "non-disclosure and non-disparagement clauses designed to shield the owner and the organization from further liability and damaging publicity."

According to that report, the settlements essentially were given in exchange for a "vow of silence."

The report comes in the wake of the NFL taking over the investigation into Richardson, who has been accused of "sexual harassment against female employees and for directing a racial slur at an African-American employee."

Vegas casino king Steve Wynn accused of ‘pattern of sexual misconduct’ in Wall Street Journal report

For the women who worked for casino mogul Steve Wynn, it was a roll of the dice whether they would be sexually harassed when they were summoned to his private office, according to a new report Friday.

For decades, the legendary Las Vegas businessman used his power over their livelihoods to pressure the manicurists and massage therapists for sex, The Wall Street Journal reported.

“Former employees said their awareness of Mr. Wynn’s power in Las Vegas, combined with the knowledge that the jobs they held were among the best-paying available there, added up to a feeling of dependence and intimidation when Mr. Wynn made requests of them,” the newspaper reported. “Some said that feeling was heightened at times by the presence in a confined office space of one or more of his German shepherds, trained to respond to commands in German.”

Wynn, a prolific donor to the Republican Party whom President Donald Trump has called “a great friend,” hotly denied the allegations.

“The idea that I ever assaulted any woman is preposterous,” he said in a statement provided to NBC News. “We find ourselves in a world where people can make allegations, regardless of the truth, and a person is left with the choice of weathering insulting publicity or engaging in multi-year lawsuits."

In a separate statement, Wynn Resorts said the company requires all workers to undergo anti-harassment training and has a hotline “that any employee can use anonymously, without fear of retaliation."

"Since the inception of the company, not one complaint was made to that hotline regarding Mr. Wynn," the company's statement read.

Wynn claimed the Journal article was the "continued work of my ex-wife Elaine Wynn, with whom I am involved in a terrible and nasty lawsuit in which she is seeking a revised settlement."

“Elaine has explicitly threatened to slander and destroy me and I am surprised that the media in allowing itself to be used to advance this agenda,” Wynn said in the statement.

The Journal, however, said in the story that the paper based its reporting on interviews with 150 current and former Wynn employees and that “none reached out to the Journal on their own.”

What allegedly happened to the salon workers was part of a “decades-long pattern of sexual misconduct by Mr. Wynn,” the paper reported.

But one alleged incident the paper cited, which involved a married manicurist who claims Wynn “forced her to have sex” with him not long after he opened his flagship Wynn Las Vegas casino in 2005, was referenced “in broad terms” in Elaine Wynn’s lawsuit against her husband.

“Mr. Wynn later paid the manicurist a $7.5 million settlement,” the paper reported, citing “people familiar with the matter.”

Reps for Elaine Wynn said she declined to comment on the story, but NBC News did obtain the heavily-redacted court documents cited by the Journal — which point to allegations of "personal misconduct" ” but do not state whether those allegations were of a sexual nature.

A former Wynn massage therapist told the paper her boss insisted she masturbate him during their hour-long sessions and that afterward he would hand her $1,000 in cash, which was “the same amount as before the sexual activity began.”

Wynn also allegedly would wear extremely small shorts that exposed his genitals when he got pedicures and subjected women to lewd and suggestive banter, according to the paper.

Wynn, who turns 76 on Saturday, made his mark on Sin City by building the Bellagio, Encore, Mirage, Treasure Island and Wynn casinos and turning them into opulent resorts that feature fine dining and on site spas where gamblers can be pampered.

But Wynn is the latest in the growing list of powerful man to be accused of inappropriate behavior with woman, the current wave of which began with a New York Times expose of Hollywood honcho Harvey Weinstein and has morphed into a #MeToo movement that has swept up some of the most biggest names in politics, sports and show business.

Yet few of the accused men have the access to the Trump White House that Wynn does. After the election, he was named the Republican National Committee’s finance chairman. And the RNC was among the recipients of donations from Wynn, Federal Election Commission records show.

So were GOP politicians like Sens. Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Tim Scott and new Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke, the records show. But Wynn hedged his political bets by donating to several presidential campaigns, including that of Chris Christie, Jeb Bush — even Hillary Clinton, the records show.

Trump attorney Michael Cohen, who serves as deputy chairman of the RNC's finance committee, told NBC News: "Steve is a truly great man who has been the driving force behind the RNC finance committee." NBC News has reached out to the RNC for comment.

The Journal report had an immediate impact on Wynn’s bottom line, which sent shares in Wynn Resorts plummeting, closing 10 percent down on Friday.

The article also caused waves in Boston, where Wynn in developing a Boston Harbor Casino, set to open in 2019. The Massachusetts Gaming Commission will now conduct a review.

"The Commission is now aware of and is taking very seriously the troubling allegations detailed in the Wall Street Journal article," the MGC said in a statement to CNBC. "The suitability and integrity of our gaming licensees is of the utmost importance, and ensuring that suitability is an active and ongoing process. Consequently, the MGC’s Investigations and Enforcement Bureau will conduct a regulatory review of this matter to determine the appropriate next steps."

The Board of Directors of Wynn Resorts is also conducting a review, and said it met Friday and formed a special committee of the board "comprised solely of independent directors" to investigate the allegations in the Wall Street Journal article.

"The Board is deeply committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all of the Company’s employees and to operating with the highest ethical standards," the board said in a statement.
