U2 hunt album lost or stolen in photo shoot

NICE, France (AFP) - Police in southern France were investigating the disappearance of a rough cut of the forthcoming album by Irish rock group U2, amid fears it could be posted on the Internet months ahead of the official release.

Singer Bono, who has a house on the Cote D'Azur, and the three other members of the band paid a discreet visit to police headquarters in Nice on Wednesday to give statements about the possible theft, which took place during a photo shoot at a recording studio in the city, police said.

Altogether some 20 people who were present at the Victorine studios on Tuesday evening were being questioned, they said.

"We have to be careful. Was it lost or was it stolen? An enquiry is underway," said one officer.

"We have numerous theories -- from the fan who wants the rough cut for his collection to the web specialist who wants to be the first to put it out," he said.

The as yet unnamed album is expected to be released in November.

U2 is one of the most overrated bands in rock history with one of the most overrated & holier than thou frontmen in rock Bono, I think the world is saved if they never find U2's rough cut of their latest album cynically speaking!!!

Wayne, you ignorant slut....... FUCK OFF!

Four bands emerged in the late 70's who set the course of music for the next decade.

Van HALEN
The Police
The Clash
U2

By 1985, three of those 4 bands were gone, and one of them definitely remains gone forever, another looking unlikely to ever return (after a 2 song reunion in 1996) and the third only reconvenes for special occasions every decade or so, for 15 minutes.

Through all of this U2 has not only survived, but thrived, at the top of their game for 2 1/2 decades (POPmart not withstanding)

If you can't respect that then you don't know shit.

Not like that will surprise anyone ;)

I hope to hear a lossless copy of this tape, but I doubt STG would host it. And in any event, I'm looking forward to another great U2 album later this year.

Problem with the "Civilian demos" was crappy digital extraction which made the last 2 tracks completely unlistenable. Which was too bad because I actually liked some of the demos better than the versions on the Audioslave album.

Now on the other hand, the previous infamous U2 leak, the Achtung Baby demos which circulated in early 1991 (and this was before the Internet, kids) were Most Unholy in sound quality (except for the shitty cassette version which was sent to Hell :( )

The only thing you and I agree on is music. I think you have great taste in music except for U2.

Just can't get into them anymore. I like some of the punkier stuff like Boy and War...but I can't get into any of the stuff after the Joshua Tree....It all sounds too Poppy.

Bono's arrogance gets to me as well. I hate "Cause" entertainers. Shut up and sing you fucking Limey. No one cares about your opinions on apartheid, world hunger, pussy disease, trans-fat, global warming, cell phone recycling, humpback whales, jews for jesus, or whatever is the fad cause of the moment. Maybe that's why I can't really get into U2.

I don't have a problem hearing bands talk about political things here and there in their music but Bono goes overboard, BIG TIME!

I bet before the year is out he is on the Oprah show and will be regarded as an expert on the war on terror, meat is murder, or national debt issues.

Do us a favor Paul, shut the fuck up about these things and just sing. maybe I'll buy your new album when it comes out. Fuck, I'll probablyvbuy it anyway.
