I'm an aspiring lyricist who can write lots of songs easily in a matter of days which isn't too hard or too complicated to do personally speaking since I have been doing it since I was about 12 years old way back in 76, while my love of music & more importantly 60's/70's rock is STRONG just as much as much as my love for long, luscious legs & sexy, sensuous feet on beautiful women & eating chicken, fish, steak & spaghetti, I'm 40 years old, I don't play any instruments at all like some songwriters, I can't read music like Paul McCartney(yes it's true), but I want to know if anybody is a songwriter, lyricist or something ielse n the music business if you're not a guitarist, drummer or singer!!!

Man ?? I dont understand that question at all...
Most songwriters are musicians... Are you seeking non-musicians
who just write lyrics ? You should ask for a poet....

I'm NOT a poet even though I could be but I am a lyricist kind of like Bernie Taupin who I'm sure you have heard of Panamark!?!?!? BTW, if you don't understand where I'm coming from you are an idiot.

Hey Im King of the idiots ! I actually attempted to answer your question. All hail the King !!

Bernie Taupin was Elton Johns co-songwriter.

Give Elton a call, you obviously have the credentials...

wayne, here's my take on the sitch.
i played guit for 6 or 8 years before i ever wrote a song.

i used to write crappy corny lyrics, set to the style
of music of the day. i didn't think i was very good.

then one day, i realised that the stuff i like is, at it's heart,
actually very simple. (lyrically and musically.)

e.g. if you play 'sweet child o mine' on a capo'd acoustic,
get a chick to sing it, it's a country song!!

so i decided that i could write good songs.
once i believed it, suddenly it started happening!!

i have no probs writing music, at all.
i always struggled with words.

i've done heaps of local tv ads,
and am a member of apra, our national
royalty collection association,
so everything i write is registered online and
copyrighted immediately.

so, i'd suggest these things to you:

1. learn to play guitar. it's easier than you probably think,
get a good teacher, you can learn the basics pretty quickly.
do you sing? if so it'll help with that, if not you can still work melodies
out on the guit.

2. hook up with a singer/ guitar player who is willing to co-write.
a free ad in your local street music press often does the trick.
you may get lucky, and find a female with long legs and nice feet!!!

keep goin for it, bro, the world needs more music and musicians.
my livelyhood depends on it, and its the most fun you can have standing up.

cheers!

I'm 40 years old & an up & coming lyricist with a bright future ahead of me in more ways than one. I have been doing this since I was about 12 years old way back in 76 because I have always been a dedicated rock fan/music fan. It cracks me up seeing some in my same age group who were in huge rock bands in the 80's like Vince Neil looking for a second encore & not getting it. I know there are some of you who can't be a guitarist or drummer or singer & you want to be in the music business. What do you want to do with your life in the music business outside of a band or a single artist?
