Tear down the wall!

That was the lyrical message in 1979 from British rock band Pink Floyd, and it's now the mantra of the group's co-founder Roger Waters, who is looking to demolish the concrete barrier in Israel.

Waters, who has since left the band, is launching "the Writings on the Wall" campaign with his famous line "we don't need no thought control" scribbled under his signature on an eight-foot replica of the fence.

"The poverty inflicted by the wall has been devastating for Palestinians," said Waters. "It has kept children from their schools, the sick from proper medical care and continues to destroy the Palestinian economy."

Waters is the first of a handful of British celebrities to sign up for the campaign, which is sponsored by the London-based anti-poverty group War on Want.

For those outside Great Britain, a virtual wall will soon be active online where the public can "paint" their own messages.

As WorldNetDaily reported last month, the wall is being credited for a huge drop in terrorism in Israel.

At this time last year, there were 20 suicide bombings killing 141, while 2002 saw 25 such attacks in which 147 Israelis were killed. So far this year, there have been only two bombings in Israel proper, killing 19.

Israel says its tactics clearly are working and that life in the Jewish state may gradually be restored to the way it was before the violence started in 2000. The security fence completed in Gaza and the one being constructed in the West Bank are credited with keeping suicide bombers out, and raids in Palestinian areas and targeted killings of top terrorist commanders seem to be putting Hamas, Islamic Jihad and the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades on the run and unable to orchestrate attacks.

With 23 million copies sold, the original "Wall" concept album from 1979 is the third best-selling album of all time, surpassed only by the Eagles' "Greatest Hits 1971-75," and Michael Jackson's "Thriller."

In July 1990, to commemorate the demolition of the Berlin Wall, Waters staged a massive live performance of "The Wall" in Berlin, featuring artists such as Cyndi Lauper, The Scorpions, Thomas Dolby, Van Morrison, Sinead O'Connor, and Bryan Adams.

God Bless Roger Waters!

Tear down the Wall! And play a concert there, if you can pull Gilmour's head out of his ass long enough.

"The Wall" is a brilliant album.

That being said I suggest that after Roger orchestrates the destruction of "the wall" he be required to use Tel Aviv mass transit for a year. If he's not willing to do that, then he can keep wailing about it.

If the "Palestinians" want to end their economic hardship they have the power to do that by getting rid of the thugs that run teh palestinian authority, kill the members of Hamas and Islamic Jihad etc and then engage is non violent protest - then they'd have the world on their side.

Or, gee I don't know, Jordan or Egypt could take them in.

Why don't we move all the Neocons, the Likuds and the BCE to Texas, and build a fucking wall around THAT??

Roger Waters two new songs via internet *update
____ We have had many emails asking various questions in relation to the news that Roger Waters is releasing two new tracks via the internet. The songs titled 'To Kill the Child and 'Leaving Beirut, are high quality work in progress recordings. The lyrics will be published, possibly only on the official Roger Waters Sony site. The songs will carry the normal credits. I hope that answers the large bulk of questions we are being asked. Many thanks to Roger's manager Mark Fenwick for keeping us up-to-date.

Oh the poor palestinians-- if they would stop blowing up people maybe Israel might have some sympathy for them. They are fucking animals.maybe if enough of them starve to death or die from disease they will leave Israel alone.--Please come and tell me how they were thrown off their land.

Better do your research on MK Ultra. Because it will happen here if the BCE are allowed to continue.

Sharon is probably the only leader of an alleged democracy on this planet who is a bigger piece of shit than Bush. He needs to be removed from power and a resonable government elected in Israel. Then maybe they can get back to where Yitzhak Rabin had them in 1994 with the help of our last constitutionally elected President, Bill Clinton.

Why do people put up fences or walls anyway? I know its' because people are so nice and would never try and hurt one another.

Same as it was in Berlin.... a repressive government, trying to control the people on the other side of the wall.

Right... Berliners in the American controlled occupation zone had been strapping bombs to themselves and had murdered 900 Germans in teh Soviet controlled zone. Yes, it is the same thing.
