Edge writes good music, but I'd hardly call him a great guitarist.

His live solo in "Bullet the Blue Sky" is pretty flippin' awesome, though.

Someone mentioned Frusciante.. Absolutely! Talk about speed isn't everything.. Though Mother's Milk has some fuckin' awesome - ultrafast - guitarwork by him. I guess the drug's slowed him down a bit. But he is one of my favorites. :rockit2:

If you wanna piss that man off, wave a pastry in his tripled chinned face. If ya don't believe me, go watch the 1st Pantera Home Video, where they harass him in a hotel lobby. It's really funny.

What does he have against donuts? Does it make him feel like people are making fun of him for being fat?

I guess so. But have you seen him lately? It's just plain frightening- big fuckin beer gut hanging out of an unbuttoned shirt, drooping over his skin tight leather pants that leave absolutely nothing to the imagination :uck: (shudder!!) Someone really oughtta just say no.

LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!

I do think that Yngwie gets a little extreme on this "I will never change" stuff. I respect him for sticking to what he believes in, but I agree his wardrope may need to be updated due to his weight. Would something in the style of 1970's Elvis be appropriate???

Way to show your lack of musical/guitar playing knowledge.

You are right, I dont play guitar (very well). Was "For Guitar Players Only" in the title of this thread and I just missed it?

Cant I have my own opinion, Beavis?

The Edge is genious. Accept it. While he doesnt play as fast as all the usual suspects listed here, the sheer heart and soul that comes from his guitar is incredible.

Back in the 80's, I always hated U2 because when Dave said "Hey, you got a message? Use Western Union!", I knew that he was talking about U2.

But then I grew up and my tastes matured, and I found that there was room in my collection for U2. Now U2 is my 1A favorite band ever. Yes, thats right...1A

So the moral of the story is: You dont have to be a brewmaster to appreciate a good beer. Ponder that while sipping your next Zima...

In no specific order...

1 - Criss Oliva (had a version of Eruption that would make Eddie cry);
2 - Tony Iommi (everything was loud before this man...nothing was HEAVY);
3 - CLASSIC Edward Van Halen

Honorable mentions (as that list would rotate ENDLESSLY for me)...

Adrian Legg, Gary Moore, Yngwie Malmsteen, Joe Satriani, Ritchie Blackmore, Steve Vai, Paul Gilbert, Al DiMeola, Carlos Santana, Randy Rhoads, Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, Brian May, CLASSIC Kirk Hammet, Marty Friedman, Dave Murray, Glenn Tipton, Robbie Krieger, George Lynch, Vivian Campbell, Steve Morse, Steve Howe, Tore Ostby, Ian McGillivray (old friend of mine), probably more, too...
