When Pat Buchanan suggested on fox news channel in march of 2000 that he run for senate in New York, ***** responded "I deeply resent the destruction of federalism represented by Hillary Clinton’s willingness go into a state she doesn't even live in and pretend to represent people there, so I certainly wouldn't imitate it."

Who made that statement, right wingers? And if you know the answer, what do you think about the statement, and the guy who made it?

Correct answer.... And I take it you have heard of his alleged plans for Illinois, a state where he has never been a resident.

Sad, really...... I actually had respect for Alan Keyes. Though his policies were often abominable, at least you knew he meant it, and wasn't doing it for the votes. Now it seems he's another sellout to the corporatists. And a hypocrite, apparently.

here's one for you...
who said the following?

Nov 12, 1997: Where's the backbone of Russia, where's the backbone of France, where are they in expressing their condemnation of such clearly illegal activity, but in a sense, they're now climbing into a box and they will have enormous difficulty not following up on this if there is not compliance by Iraq....It was disappointing a month ago not to have the French and the Russians understanding that they shouldn't give any signals of weakening on the sanctions and I think those signals would have helped bring about this crisis because they permitted Saddam Hussein to interpret that maybe the moment was right for him to make this challenge. crossfire

Sep 6, 2002: "If Saddam Hussein is unwilling to bend to the international community's already existing order, then he will have invited enforcement, even if that enforcement is mostly at the hands of the United States, a right we retain even if the Security Council fails to act." Op-Ed, "We Still Have A Choice On Iraq," The New York Times

Actually it is the Illinois GOP who has asked that Keyes run. He did not approach them with the idea. He has responded that he'll think about it over the weekend and give a response Sunday.

That being said I agree that he has no business running as a Senate candidate from Illinois.

Obama will kick his ass regardless ;)

Actually, I was just going to ask why Keyes makes you nervous?

You know, nervous enough to immediately dig up quotes to discredit him...

If he were no threat to Obama, you'd have simply said "cool, should be interesting".

Honestly, when the subject of Keyes possibly jumping into the Senate race surfaced at DU yesterday morning, I told them I didn't think it would happen, because whatever you think of Keyes' politics, the man is known for his integrity.

Now it appears that I was wrong. I'm not worried about Obama's chances at all, but it sucks to see one of the last honest conservatives fall into the corporatist abyss :(

Which all leaves me wondering... If integrity is so important to you, why were you a Clinton fan? And how in the hell could you ever vote for Kerry?

Especially how you despised "judas Iskerriot" not two months ago...

When Clinton lied about his blow job, it pissed me off. In fact there are two questions he should have answered differently:

in 1992: Hell yes I inhaled! And I enjoyed it.

In 1998: Hell yes she swallowed! and she enjoyed it.

And I'm not voting for Kerry. I'm voting against Junior.

It's a fact that Kerry was not my first, second, or even 4th choice. But it is also a fact that this country cannot survive another 4 years of the BCE :(

So I should tell Ralph Nader to expect your vote in November?

That was due to bad intelligence, furnished to him by a CIA who are eternally loyal to the BCE, because they are indeed a branch of the BCE.

The BCE is also heavily involved in the pharmaceutical industry, so taking out an aspirin factory - and being able to blame it on Clinton - was a huge bonus for them.

Baroque?? So he's a classical musician now too, besides the next Senator from Illinois, and in all likelihood the future first African American President of the United States? :)

Besides, you can't blame the Dems for the candidates the Republicans put up against him. First you had the pervert Jack Ryan who wasn't happy with being married to the sexiest Borg in the Universe. Then they tried to get Ditka to replace him. Then Nugent's name came up. Now Alan Keyes.

Seems the Illinois GOP is more interested in right wing celebrities then they are actually representing the people of their state.

Nugent was in the mix ??

Yep, Ford's got all the answers. Except that he's apparently moved by a Conservative Democrat.

And the Nader issue is exactly what I was thinking. Nader is your candidate Ford, you just don't have the integrity yourself to vote for him. Niether do the clowns in hollywood or in the music biz.

It's all simply about aquiring "supposed" power with you libs.
