There was so much brilliance in DLR era...But if you had to pick only one song, which would you choose that adequately highlights DLR's vocal virtuosity w/unique sould of OLD Van Halen, one would haver to pick, "Somebody Get Me A Doctor."

Your Thoughts?

I'd probably take Unchained. It's got THE guitar riff, the good drum work by Al, perhaps some of Mike's best bass work, and the classic Roth-Templeman interplay.

Truly a great track amongst many.

I think Drop Dead Legs would have to be one of my favorites. even though it was sort of ignored on the 1984 album cause of Panama and Jump

W/O a doubt it has to be "Mean Street" it's CVH at their finest.

I agree with most of the "Unchained" posts. It may be the coolest ever. I love "Romeo Delight". Imagine seeing Dave & the boys explode onstage with "Romeo Delight" as the opener like they used to? Wow... "look at all the people here tonight, I say..."

"Drop Dead Legs" is such an underrated song. I love it. It is truly a classic. It is like a red-haired little stepbrother to "Panama", "Jump", and "Hot For Teacher"...

What are you thinking?! How could anything other than "Jump" be the answer? :matrix: :killer: :56k: :alien: :yankeeros :spank: :donkey: :hitch:

LITTLE GUITARS was always my fave after I heard it. I think I'm the only one though.
By the way, it's not because of the guitar at the beginning of the song. Yes that is very cool. But if you removed that entire piece from the song it would still be my fave song of all time. DLR's vocals are awesome on this song. Jamie's Cryin would be a close 2nd.

umm... id say Unchained, personally, I read ed said it was his fave, cuz he played it perfectly. i dunno if its true, but i still get chills when i hear that amazing intro of guitar.

to pick just one song is very difficult but here is my favorite VH tune :
GIRL GONE BAD

My favorite classic VH song is "Hot for Teacher." That song defines classic VH. Awesome guitar work, great drumming, solid bass and classic Roth vocals. Overall it's a killer song.

I must say, although it's not a tune in the CVH era, "Me Wise Magic" is a favorite of mine.

House of Pain is first in a list of many....

This is always a tough question. My favorite tune is So this is Love?. But, I don't think that is their best tune. Does that make sense? LOL.

I think the best tune is Full Bug. Although, that is subject to change on any given day. Sometimes its Mean Street or Sinners Swing.

What about aint talkin bout love the first 15 seconds is mind blowing maybe the best 15 seconds in rock history and the rest of the song rocks. Unchained is definatley a close second if not even with atbl.

Hot For Teacher takes the cake for me.

So much Van Halen-character in one song; Eddie's got that awesome finger tapping opening, then Dave's humor totally shines when that effects pedal or whatever kicks in. "I heard ya missed us, we're back!"

The solo's great, and the song doesn't stop rockin' til the end. Great song, for me.

"Somebody Get Me A Doctor", if I had to choose just one (under torture :D).
The guitar/drums interaction is incredible, so are the riff, the solo and the break, plus Dave's vocals are amazing - which, in his case, means a lot.
In addition, the sniff sound in the break, "... and I'm speeding!!!... Down that line!... - [ssssniffffffff]"

It's true that it's very hard to pick just one track out, as all of them were extremely polished and almost each of them has no match elsewhere.
