The San Diego Chargers have reached a six-year contract agreement with rookie QB Philip Rivers. He's expected to sign his contract Tuesday, Aug. 24, and be on the field for the team's morning workouts. "This is a fair deal for both Philip and the Chargers," said Chargers General Manager A.J. Smith. "We're just happy to have the negotiations behind us and a bright future ahead for Philip, the Chargers and all Charger fans. We're looking forward to getting him on the field and ready for the 2004 season."

The good thing about this for Rivers is that the team is blaming the front office...and not him...

The belief on the time is that the admin has been lowballing him...

perhaps we'll have a situation in which the Chargers band together against the idiots that own the team...and give them a major-league like season...

I doubt it...but stranger things have happened...

You still have to have talent, and playmakers at WR.

LT and a couple decent TEs, a suspect line, and either a disgruntled incumbant or a hold-out rookie at QB.

They would really have to have the lights out defense.

And they don't...

but like I said...you never know...

you get on a roll..have a couple of no-names become names...

and you have something...

let's not forget that Cincy...last year...didn't have a name receiver (warrick...but c'mon)...

or a name back...(Dillon...but c'mon)...

and a suspect QB...

a suspect line...

a suspect defense...

a suspect team...

a suspect coach...

and bam...

Well, Chad Johnson might not have been who he is considered now, but was coming off a good season. Warrick benefited from the attention he got, Kitna played over his head. They did surprise though, and they won't be sneaking up on anyone either.

I just see SD worse off than last year's Bengals. Bengals had an OL, SD doesn't, and with no receivers, ouch. All LT.
