Can anyone tell me how to do the talking guitar part in the beginning of the yankee rose song. I believe he's using a wah pedal but is there anyhting else////and what are the notes????

It is more about imagination, timing and showmanship. Yeah, a wah does certainly help.

And a lot of practice....

Break the solo down to listening to 2 or 3 notes at a time. He is bending up a whole and a half step (3 frets) on the first couple notes. 3rd string, seventeenth fret, then the 15th The effect he gets if from synchronizing the wah motion with the fast string bends.
The laughing sound he gets is bending the string up a whole and a half step (bending the note to the note 3 frets higher than where your fret finger is)on the high E string starting on the 22nd fret, then 21, 20, 19 etc.

If you have the strength to bend 3 half steps, then work on timing between that and the wah.
Hope this helps.

For Yankee Rose, Steve used a Dunlop Crybaby!! Of course now he has his own model of wah called the Morley Bad Horsie.
