I love Jeff Beck. He's one of the best. One of the few rockers who's actually getting better with the years.

Jeff Beck is an amazing guitarist. Underrated indeed. Much better than Clapton IMHO.

Was Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, and Eric Clapton in the Yardbirds at the same time?

Can someone give me a timeline...

the original guitarist of the yardbirds was Clapton. He left the band and Beck replaced him in '65. then Page joined in '66 and played with Beck for only a few months.
Beck disappeared suddenly in the middle of the US tour. he had got tired of the band.

Have you seen the video of the concert with Beck, Clapton and Page in 1983? Jeff outplayed them easily. Very talented and cool guitarist.
Page is the best songwriter of the three. Clapton is second best at soloing AND songwriting:D

He can play basically anything he chooses to.
"Blow By Blow" is a personal favorite.

Beck is brilliant, and IMO, is better than Clapton and Page. Freeway Jam from "Blow by Blow" is one of my all time favourite tracks.

Havent heard much of his stuff, but what I have, I liked.
He always seems to be overlooked, like Holdsworth as
one of the greats.

flappo

yeah , but holdsworth always seems to overdo his stuff . plus his materials a bit weak

amazing player tho'

i never rated vai or satriani that high , they always seemed like evh copyists to me

but lacked his heart and feel

not so important info about beff jeck

he was a fan of Van Halen when Dave was a lead singer.

flappo

really?

beck does do the odd bit of tapping , altho' unlike ed he doesn't over use it

sometimes eddie's stuff strikes me as ever so predictable

beck is never that

that dvd you sent me is fucking amazing , cato !

thank you again !!

Beck doesn't need to do "finger tapping" when, what he does instead is "finger poppin'" (he does not play with a pick anymore). Unlike those other limey fuckwits (i.e., Page, Clapshiton) Beck is and always will be a visionary. He took the method of guitar playing and basically said, "fuck it" and created this unorthodox style that can never be matched. His last 3 albums: 'Who Else?'; 'You Had It Coming' and 'Jeff' are just brilliant masterpieces of recorded guitar work as Jeff branches out to new areas of technique. I highly recommend them all.

Oh, and check out the tune 'Line Dancing With Monkeys' sometime.

Got a double cassette with Blow By Blow on one side and Wired on the other. Beck is outstanding. Walks all over Clapton without even trying. Did it at the 1981 Secret Policeman's Other Ball show and on the 1983 ARMS tour.

Actually, Top Topham was the original guitarist of the Yardbirds!

Pagey joined the Yardbirds as a bassist. Then Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page briefly played duel lead. "Psychodaisies" features both of 'em cats on guitar...and "Stroll On" aka Train Kept A Rollin' Part 2...I've always been a Jeff Beck fan nah nah..."Truth" is a great, great album ALL HELL YEAH!!!!!

One of the best concerts I ever went to was Jeff Beck on the 'Guitar Shop' tour, he and Terry Bozzio were just amazing (Tony Hymas just nailed the beat really). Love a bootleg from that tour if anyone has a good one ?
