This grows out of my thoughts on VHI and You Really Got Me.....

To me a great cover version is one in which the artist embraces the song in such a way that it makes the original version seem like a crappy re-make.

With that in mind, I offer what I think are some of the best covers...

You Really Got Me - Van Halen
All Along The Watchtower - Jimi Hendrix
Hound Dog - Elvis Presley
Nothing Compares 2 U - Sinead O'Connor
Sweet Dreams - Marilyn Manson

Ok, now let's hear which ones I've left out.....

You're no good - VH

Where have all the good times gone - VH

Am I evil - Metallica

Angel of death - Chas & Dave (ultra rare concert performance)

Marilyn Manson sucks.

Whether he's a fake wannabe or a true satanist, bottom line, he sucks.

David Lee Roth said it best in the 80's when an interviewer asked him about 'Satanic Music'.

"I don't understand how some people can spend their hard earned cash on an artist of whom they know is pissed off at the world."

'nuff said. Manson isn't even good enough to suck boiling vomit with fish.

True or not, I stand by my statement on this one. In fact, when they went on their reunion tour, the eurythmics played the song much closer to the Manson take than to the original....
