The trick to getting the ground wire better soldering contact, is to rough up the surface in that spot with a bit of sandpaper.
If you don't have that, you can scratch up the plating with a pocket knife file, really good, before soldering with at least a 25w soldering iron and rosin-core LEAD-TIN solder.
None of that RoSH solder. I hate that shit, and you EU people over there banned lead-tin in everything.. RoSH "balls" up cuz it melts at higher temperature, I do not recommend it!
