My daughter is a fan of this young band called Five Seconds Of Summer. Young guys, write and play their own pop/rock stuff. We bought tickets for the Charlotte show back in December. The show is in September. Most groups these day pimp the shit out of their tours, even the ones that actually don't need to because they're pretty much gonna sell out anyway.

Bullshit, I just looked up the two I mentioned...

Seating for most amphitheaters is around 20,000....

But end-stage concerts in arena don't have the areas behind them, so their capacity for concerts is only around 18,000 tops....

There are exceptions, of course....

High expectations? How about an expectation of being somewhat close to being in range?

Van Halen isn't going to fill arena's with just diehard fans. They are going to need people to hear this, and say "Fuck yeah, I gotta go see that". No fucking way that will happen. Quite the opposite in fact. Just look at some of the diehard fans here that are already saying they won't pay to go see these guys perform like this, yet again.

As far as us saying they (Dave) sounded better in Japan, at that time, I think we must have had our VH ear muffs on. We were probably caught up in the moment. Now that time has passed, and we are subjected to this recording without having heard them in awhile, reality has reared its ugly head.

If MA is in the band, these threads will be nothing but farts in the desert...these shows will sell out without issue

I'd think with downloading, Touring would be the only way they'd see any money......

I wonder how many tix they were selling on average for each show on the last tour - minus the Japanese shows. If I remember correctly, opening nite in Charlotte in '07 was sold out. And I wonder if the ticket brokers that buy up huge blocks of tickets to resale will do so for this upcoming tour?

I went to a bunch of shows. Even the smallest market in the Prairies of Canada was sold out
