I suppose that the 'Mastodon' comaprissons come from the sprawling nature of the songs, the way they seem to endlessly unfold rather than being verse-chorus-verse-chorus. For my money, Baroness sound more like Kyuss than anyone else...

I took a shortcut and checked out Baroness on YouTube. There were all these comments comparing them to Mastadon. I thought in the song "Wanderlust" that Baroness sounds more like Fear Factory...?

Anyway, good to hear you're well. I miss our music chats as well, but I haven't been paying attention lately, so I don't know too much about what's going on. The last album I bought was Tim Armstrong's solo work. It's good ol' reggae, and there's not one mediocre song on it.
