His infectious attitude and style is also the reason for me losing my virginity at an early age and hitting quite a great hot streak through high school. The reason I tasted my first whiskey. The reason it's okay to be a metal head that actually likes music with a dance groove and that you can actually sing to. The reason Van Halen was Van Halen again in 2007.
I give the man my money at every opportunity. All I can offer now is this...
/salute
I see some interesting stuff, gotta love the pics cant wait to see the book in its entirety. I like what I see so far.
And the next time Van Halen does a show in the US, we're all going to bitching, moaning, complaining and griping about how he's a "statue" on stage when he's CLEARLY enjoying himself, enjoying being in VH and enjoying the company of the fans despite his physical limitations being a fucking 57 year old man.
Well, mabye not because ELBOW supposedly joined the Alex Jone$ Cult in wake of this fucking NSA debacle and probably is too paranoid to use the internet. Ten bucks he sold his house and he's building an underground anti-drone strike bunker.

Hey thanks for the plug Big Fatty!

People regularly ask me about what will be included in my forthcoming book on Van Halen, Van Halen Rising. Here’s a sneak preview of what my years of research — including 200+ interviews with everyone from former band members and club owners to fans and fellow musicians — has uncovered.
BJ Kahuna interviews me about the band’s origins, including the “pre-Van Halen” bands: Genesis, Mammoth and Red Ball Jet. We also cover VH’s early evolution up through its 1978 breakout.
You also can hear tons of unreleased early Van Halen songs.
Please take a listen; I think even the biggest Van Halen fans will learn new things about the band!

Gracias Greg
A great listen. Really looking forward to the book.
Release date?
Eddie really needs to write his own autobio and clear the air on certain things.
No way would I care to hear yet another version of the early days of Van Halen...
I want to say ghey here but this is too cool. Von knows his shit.

Don't do it :)
Hey everyone,
Just a quick update about Van Halen Rising.
On Friday night I sent off a 115,000 word manuscript to the good people at ECW Press to begin the editing and book production process; the book should be out in the fall of 2015. (If you don't know ECW's stuff, they've done all of Neil Peart's books).
As many of you know, I started working on Van Halen Rising back in 2009, so this is a huge milestone as I look forward to getting the book in everyone's hands. THANK YOU so much for your support. I've appreciated the kind words and enthusiasm here at the links.
Just some of the topics/episodes the book covers: the origins of Genesis/Mammoth, DLR's Red Ball Jet's adventures, the backyard party days, Wet-T-Shirt contests, the Gene Simmons episode, how the Warner Bros. signing really went down, the making of VH1, and the 1978 tour.
I can make one promise: there will be page after page of stories that Van Halen fans *haven't* read about before. I dug deep to get the untold story down on paper; Among the 230+ interviews I did, I talked to everyone from Mike Anthony and Ted T. to DLR's and EVH's high school buddies.
If you know any VH fans who'd like to read the untold story of the band's beginnings and rise to fame, please do send them my way on FB or Twitter.
Best and thanks again -
