I think part of the problem that happened in the UK with the Bernie equivalent Corbyn is when you have a bunch of insecure voters who are one salary away from financial disaster they get very nervous of a politician offering them a bunch of stuff.
Many working class people don't really pay attention to politics and anything remotely radical sounding spooks them.
Matthews makes worst analogy of all time, while Sanders says Fidel Castro did some "good things." Don't gloss over that.
Castro did do some good things - universal and free education and healthcare with first-world levels of literacy and life expectancy.
You have to bear in mind what Cuba was like when he took over and also compare it with life was like for ordinary people in the Central American countries that had to live under the dictators that the US government backed.
I agree Castro is not worse than some of the cunts we've backed during the Cold War. But his ain't Albert Schweitzer either...
