At last we are achieving an ambition, we are beginning to gain a following in the U.S.A.! The country that gave us all that good music from Ragtime to Rock and Roll. Those words to Chas and Dave sound as exciting as Christmas Day!
In our formative years of the 40's and 50's, we heard and loved (amongst our own), American music. Being London Cockneys who loved Rock and Roll, we mixed the two and called our music "Rockney", a true London/American sound.
We were overjoyed last July with the response that we received when we played Milwaukee and Cleveland. It was a short but great visit. Much longer next time. Our thanks go to all the radio station D.J.'s we spoke to. They seemed to enjoy the interviews as much as we did. Cheers to our pal, Steve Popovich for organizing the trip and releasing on his label, Cleveland International Records, 'The World of Chas and Dave' and 'Never Too Old to Rock and Roll'.
There are also 2 brand new releases. Over 50 songs on each, in medley form. 'JAMBOREE BAG NO. 2', Songs from the turn of the century thru' to the 50's and 'SONGS FROM WORLD WAR II'. All these songs were written between 1939 & 1945. Perfect party albums. Play these to 'keep fit' or do the 'ironing' to!
Looking forward to you all early in the new year when Chas and Dave will be 'Flying'
I'll be keepin' an eye out for 'em in the States!
