I think the Foo Fighters are great, my favorite current band. The Color and Shape is a fantastic album.

I really want to check them out. There was even a rumor of Grohl bringing the Atomic Punks along to open for him a couple of years ago.

I dig Mr Grohl/Fooeys, they rock. Saw them at the Big Day Out (Aust. Music Festival) a few years back as well, they blew everyone away..

great tunes, huge riffs and great songwriting, and they never overplay...

Everlong - still one of my favourite songs of the modern era.

I like the FOOS a lot. Their new album was very good (COLOUR AND THE SHAPE is still my favorite).

But I have to say that I still highly prefer NIRVANA. I've loved them since '91, and they are still one of my favorite bands. Dave's drumming on the IN UTERO album is stellar and would do Bonham proud. In fact, that album has the best drum sound I've ever heard on any album. I mean it.

One more thing: I do like Alex Van Halen's drumming...but I still think Dave Grohl is a better drummer.

Oh, he's great. It's not just the amazing Bonham-like sound of some of his beats...it's that he also knows when not to overplay.

But some of his beats are incredible. His drum intro on SCENTLESS APPRENTICE on IN UTERO is astounding. Anyone else know that cut?

Nirvana were great, I was very fortunate to see them in Australia. First Big Day Out in Sydney in 1992. Also there was The Hard Ons w/ Henry Rollins, Massappeal and Violent Femmes plus a stack of Aussie acts..

I think everything Dave has done after Nirvana is killer. Not just the Foo Fighters. He also played drums on OOTSA's Songs For the Deaf, and Tenacious D cd.

    Dave Grohl is great !

While not my favourites, (The Foo Fighters) you cant deny the
musicianship thats going down... Some very cool original riffs...

He/They are one of those bands that I dont go crazy over, yet
totally admire. No doubting the pure talent of the guy...

    Dave Grohl....

The most talented member of Nirvana.
"Honey, my shirt got itself torn up. My shirt tore itself on that stripper's hand, and I need it to be sewed up for the show."
"No problem, Dave, no problem. Say hello to Fluffy."
    "Fuck you, Fluffy."
"No, no, you're going to upset Fluffy."
"I ain't saying hello to no stuffed bear."
"You know, now that I think about it, it's going to take a little longer to sew up that shirt than I was thinking."
    "Hi Fluffy, how you been?"
"Now that I'm thinking of it even more, it's going to take half the time, Double D, Diamond Dave! Would you hold Fluffy?"
    "N--- yeah."

DAVE GROHL IS THE SHIT OF THE SHIT.
I have everything he's done. He drums...he plays guitar....he sings...and oh my god, he writes better than just about anyone out there.
And if all that were not enough, there is always his very pro-Roth stance. I believe he coined the phrase,"There is no VH without Roth".
    He throws a punch.
    He swings. I duck.
    His fat ass falls...
    Hey Sammy,you still SUCK!

Nirvana is one of my all-time favorite bands... Dave was the brains behind the music and added that punk/metal influence that gave Nirvana their unique sound. Foo Fighters kick ass... love their stuff. I bought the "Probot" CD and I have to say, that is a great album. Some of my oldschool hard-core/death metal friends kind of gave it mixed reviews because it sounded too Nirvana-ish... that is the reason I LIKED it! It's Nirvana/Foo Fighters on 10! Great stuff!

    Dig Grohl.

Foos are great (agree with several other posts here about the Colour and The Shape......fantastic album).

Not quite sure about the comment that Dave was the brains behind Nirvana..........have always perceived Kurt Cobain as the alpha member in that band, but totally agree that Grohl is a great drummer and one of the reasons for that is knowing when not to overplay.

in the early days dave was the reason nirvana got signed in the first place, and this is 100% true...the record company members notified his skills first
