He merely postulated that the human personality was derived from three basic components the id, the ego and the superego, and that we had numerous and complex drives of both survival and procreation and destruction. They used to sell in the drug stores in America little bottles of liquid cocaine that was more potent than the best street coke of today.
They came with a little tube so you could just snort the liquidy substance. It was a nasal decongestant. The streets of NYC were littered with the bottles once the young people figured out it was the BEST MEDICINE EVER!
