Ozric Tentacles are very spacey. Kinda reminicent of Pink Floyd.

    Cool website, though.

On the Pongmaster's Ball DVD, everytime the flute guy (he keeps changing his name, so I don't quite know what to call him) rolls up a spliff, the camera pulls away quickly. It's funny. Flute man smokes them through his flute and everything.

'Eternal Wheel' is a double CD best of compilation which is a good place to start with the Ozrics.

Whenever I look at prog websites, Frank Zappa is put under prog rock or fusion. Although, I wouldn't be able to categorise him.

Again, I wouldn't really call the Mars Volta prog, I'd call them indie or alternative.

You want real new-prog, check out Glass Hammer.

    has anyone mentioned Magma yet?

They had a completely unique sound, it was called 'Zehul', which actually means celestial. Magma even had their own language called Kobaian.

You`d never get away with an album like that now.

It`s amazing that you could ever make an album like that back then and it would actually chart.

What the fuck is wrong with music fans these days?

The are totally closed to something that radical.
    Got it !

The chances of anything coming form Mars are a million to one !
    But still they come !

How about Tubular Bells - Mike Oldfield ?

    My favourite prog verse ever;

    "Welcome back my friends
To the show that never ends
We're so glad you could attend
    Come Inside, come inside..."

-Emerson, Lake and Palmer, Karn Evil 9 1st impression part 2

Everyone know 'Your Move' by Yes (part a of All Good People). Who would have thought that you could sing so passionately and with so much feeling about chess. Most beautiful piece of music.

    KANSAS are probably underrated.

    Do 10CC and HAWKWIND count?

    Pink Floyd - The Wall.

I'm sure most people have a Pink Floyd album anyway.

    progressive rock

Kansas probrably hasn't been the same since Kerry Livgren left, but he has since formed his original band Protokaw. As far as Neal Morse's ONE cd, yeah great cd, and they happen to be great friends of mine. I have just finished recording drum tracks for Randy George who also played bass on the ONE cd, besides myself, some other guest's to be included are: Neal Morse, Kerry Livgren, Phil Keaggy, David Beegle, David Ragsdale. The cd should hopefully be due out sometime this summer. Please check it out.

Anyone heard of a band called Riverside? Heard one track thought it was pretty good sort of Marillion/Dream Theater vibe you can check them out here:

    An Apology

Soul Reaper asked who had heard of The Mars Volta, to which I replied "I wouldn't call them Prog". I appear to have gotten The Mars Volta mixed up with another band. And yes, they are Progressive Rock. I apologise for my misunderstanding.

So, to conclude, The Mars Volta ARE a Prog Band and they are OK.
