For me it's Van Halen I. That was the first one I got back in '80 and it's always been my fave. However, there's no way I'd want them to stop there. Play all 6!
hands down van halen 1,,,, is the greatest album of all time...
the rest come in at a close second

Van Halen I or 1984. Depends on my mood.
1984 = would be cool to hear "Drop Dead Legs" live. It's been a long time coming, but that would be the only reason for this release, so...no.
Diver Down = I love this record, and I've heard many recordings of most of this stuff live, and I don't really like the way these songs come off live, so....not this one.
VH1 = Great record, kick ass live, but we've heard these songs done masterfully from the beginning, no surprises here. They would do this great live, but...not my choice.
Fair Warning = Bad Ass tracklist all the way through. Definately a contender, but, though this record is great from beginning to end, this one really doesn't contain any of my standout favorite VH tunes..well, maybe Mean Street...but I just can't choose this one if I only have to choose one.
WACF = Pretty much has my favorite and least favorite songs on it. I love "Romeo Delight", "In A Simple Rhyme", "Take you Whiskey Home" and dislike "Everybody Wants Some!!" and "Loss of Control" Would be killer to hear live as this is perhaps to most eclectic of the VH albums...but alas, not this one either.
VHII = If for nothing else, "Light Up The Sky". The band can rip up the songs on this one, and they Haven't been over played. This is perhaps the rawest VH album, and was made to be played live. This is my choice.
Read em and weep, sheep!!
Van Halen 2 all the way!!!!
If they played Light up the Sky, they'd have to either sequence the second guitar part in, or just butcher it into a 1 guitar song though.

fair warning, period
Got beef with my comments? Blow me!

You are a fucking sheep and it is time to get in the Pen.
I'd kill to hear ANY of the classics albums live these days.
Id be more than happy with ANY of them but if i had to choose one i'll have to go with VH1.

now i answered 4 times...you fuckin red head.....
I would have to say 1984. It's the first VH album I heard and it's the most diverse. I fucking love every song on it.
"Women And Children First".The album sounds like it was recorded "live in the studio" anyway.Fucking great tour too!And on a non-VH note,I pick "Killer" by Alice Cooper (the band, not the Hollywood Square).
Whatever album has the longest running time.
i want to hear "Push comes to shove" live. That'd be so swish!
Don't need a gun to blow your mind!

Although Fair Warning is my favourite, I'm gonna pick Van Halen 1 because of On Fire, Ice Cream Man and Feel Your Love Tonight
Diamond Dave Is Van Halen. 'Nuff Said
The best scenario would be Van Halen playing back to back with a intermission between albums the entire six pack from the very first tune off vh1 running with the devil to house of pain of 1984. But if i had to go with just one then im with carmine you gotta go with the one that started it all. Van Halen/ Van Halen 1978
I believe they played this song on their '79 world tour, but I could be mistaken. It's hard to remember when there's shit for bootlegs out there on that tour.Originally posted by LickMyCream
