The Stones NOT rock n roll? They shaped it to what Van Halen was! You'd better go back and have a listen to "Let It Bleed", "Get Your Ya-Ya's Out","Sticky Fingers", and "Exile On Main Street"! Even their later releases have glimmers(pardon the pun!) of their former selves with songs like "Saint Of Me", "Too Tough", "She's So Cold", "Shattered", "Suck On The Jugular" and "Hand Of Fate". If there's any band that should be there it should be THEM! I regard them as a pillar in that "beauty contest", but to say that they don't belong is a travesty to their blues infested brand of rock and the musical legacy that they've inspired others to share! Hey I just want to see roth and van halen play together again and th RNRHF seems like the only opportunity.
Classic VH are part of a plethora of guys who will never get into the RnR HOF until they die. They don't want to show tribute to Dave, or Alice Cooper, or Motley, or any 'dangerous' band. The RnR hall of fame will always be populated by artists who never made a "rock" album, and I wouldn't be too surprised if they pull a stunt like putting rappers in there. They got the Sex Pistols right, but thats one of the few things they have done right.
