The Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame...Fact Or Fiction?

An artist is eligible for The "Rock And Roll" Hall Of Fame 25 years after their first record.U2 released their first record in 1979.The Pretenders's first record came out in January 1980.
Alice Cooper put out their first album in 1969,and so did The Stooges.Black Sabbath came along in in 1970. None of these bands are in the Hall but U2 and The Pretenders got in virtually as soon as they were eligible.What the hell is going on here? What are these,the fucking Grammy's?!!
And don't forget,Van Halen's debut came out in 1978.

agreed. cooper and sabbath should have been straight in. they have done more for music than the pretenders ever have.

I think DAVE's comment years ago to the effect that "Music critics like Elvis Costello because they all LOOK like Him" hasn't helped CLASSIC VAN HALEN get their just due. But, the debacle that the SISTERS have made of their careers since 1985 has played the major part in them being reduced in stature. Remember, this was the band that outdrew the WHO in 1982, when the WHO were on their 1st FAREWELL tour.
