We picked Iraq because we thought we could "GET" them on WMD's and sanctions violations.

The side benefits were the liberation of the Iraqui people and the fall of Hussein. The primary benefits were having a base of operations for the war on terror.

I believe Michael Moore's next film is going to be about how the US military recruits mainly from poorly educated underprivilaged areas of the country. The argument being if you keep some people in poverty with poor healthcare and educational possibilities then you will always have a pool of folk, desperate enough to risk their lives to make the rich richer.
