I like dave. When he goes into the studio, he's a fine singer still. Live, well, he concentrates on kicks and jumps more than the singing that he's paid to do. He's OK still..nothing too terrible. I've seen worse (robert plant). I like him, but i just call it like i see it. Here it is.

YFLM had this new type of head voice scream, and the strain that the new yelp put on daves voice was tremendous. Doing that for the next 4 or 5 years really damaged his vocal chords. Those yelps you hear in "Me wise magic" really harmed his voice. Listen to the ALAE Tour redcordings live in 1991 and then listen to the 1999 dave recordings. There is a huge difference, mostly due to smoking and his "go go" head voice yelp that you hear in songs like Blacklight on 1998's DLR band.
Now its 2004 and his voice is just a whisper of what it once was.
