Dave Roth's point about adding a classical-sounding name to it in a bid to seem like a legitimate music act really worked: when I was told the name was Van Halen the first thing I thougth was: like what, Van Clyburn?

Do they play Tchaikovsky pieces, too? Do they have orchestral arrangements on the other side?

Those were my unforgettable, two first thoughts anyways.

- the name "ROTH" would have taken longer to click, publicly speaking, because it's very common. But it would have worked - and when it did, DLR coulda ditched Ed and got Terry Kilgore for the band before he formed Reddi Kilowatt..
