    I Just Bought The 6!

My CD collection could now boil Iran off the map! Led Zeppelin 1, 2, 3, 4 and the 6 PACK have been added, thank you Government funding!!!

    I love them!
It's a whole new experience. I did have copies of them off of David Van Via, but that's just cheap and Nasty, so i bought them. Best £60 i ever spent!

What was it like for anyone else when they first got their CVH albums?

I bought Van Halen 1 remastered after listening to my Dads original copy over and over again. Then I got payed and bought the other 5 all but Diver down asked a friend for £2 and ran back into the shop and bought it. Headed back up to college for the last 2 peroids and the rest of the night was sorted.

I bought 5 of the 6 (VHII-1984) on the day they were released, and I wasn't alone. That's how BIG Van Halen was back in the day. I remember people would plan their lives around the release dates of the new Van Halen albums. It was quite extraordinary. I don't believe Van Hagar releases ever got that kind of fanatic reception.

Oh wow man... I used to do the same thing in Aust.

A mate and I would pre order VH LPs (via one of the only import record stores of the day, Utopia Records in Sydney), straight from the US to ensure we were one of the first to get them. (This stopped in the 5150-era but continued through to EEAS and SS)

More often than not, we used to have to pay a $5-$10 premium on the price, but it didn't bother us a bit - the anticipation of catching the train home to play them on our family stereos was worth it. (where the stock speakers we more equipped to play Hall and Oates than VH at ear blistering volumes - hahaha!).

Come to think of it, I don't think many bands of this day actually get that kind of fanantic reception - internet or no internet...

I first bought the 6 pack when they were new, one at a time. It aged my parents 10 years with each new VH release. Particularly "Hot for Teacher", whose video pissed off my parents SO BAD they didn't speak to me for a week cuz they thought I was the son of satan... well, we didn't know they were right until about 15 years ago, but nonetheless... The 6 pack is the BEST SHIT EVER, and FUCK the sheep who don't know any better!!! DLR=Genius.

That sums it up. Then step 2 was learnin' how to play it.
It's like Dave wrote, that if you got anywhere near it it changed your life.
Van Halen I was when the book got rewritten overnight.

I bought Van Halen I in 1980. A couple months late I got VH II and WACFT. From then on it was release date when I picked up FW, DD and 1984. I also got 5150 on the release date, but never got another VH album after that disappointmeent.

i remember i used to listen to 1984 on tape and jump and down on my bead to..jump of course. me being like 7 or 8 or so. then after that i found my moms stereo with a turntable on top. and started unpacking and listening to the records, after using some thing called ted nugent as a frsibie with my friends(no dissing, but thats how i remember) i put on something called van halen, and i thought the cover was pretty cool. and that was the beginning with van halen. my fav's were you really got me, i'm the one, feel your love tonight, at the time i hated little dreamer and thought that it was the worst song they could of put on there. i dont what it is as a kid but you only seem to like fast pace songs with fast guitar and fast drums. yeah...
then later on MTV a they were doing some video countdown and show van halen doing junp and i about freaked, (it never occured that jump and that album were done by the same band). after that its a fog of buying every van halen cyes and van hagar, and every VHIII wich i listened to without you...once and i dont think i have heard any other songs of that album...
still have 1984 tape and when i get pmy license and my ranger its the first tape getting played.

Yesterday, I completed the 6. I bought Diver Down yesterday. Finally. I had the other 5 for years. So, I have the 6 pack in it's entirety now.

I learned to like the Hot for Teacher video because of my parents. I remember seeing the video when I was little on some music video channel or something and thinking it was really weird but my dad loved it (being a long-time VH fan) and he taught me about Van Halen that day. I've never been the same since. I only started listening to them last year though and what a great year it's been!
