Did you watch the documentary about the REAL story? Sad stuff. Fifty dead. And it's amazing Pleasence was in a real camp. That documentary must be 10 years old or so. It was funny seeing Pleasence there...like seeing a ghost...dude's been dead for 10 years.

That movie is so great, yet it still depresses me. Every time I watch it, I get pissed off beyond belief that the escape hole isn't deep into the woods!!! Idiots.

Still, I love the moment when Coburn meets his Spanish guide. Very satisfying ending, for just that moment.

JAMES COBURN, YUL BRYNNER, CHARLES BRONSON, STEVE MCQUEEN, HORST BUCOLZ, ROBERT VAUGHN and BRAD DEXTER. Magnificent indeed. Funny enough, four of these guys died within the last couple of years (COBURN, BRONSON, BUCOLZ and DEXTER). BRYNNER died in 1985. MCQUEEN in 1980 (way too fucking young!). Only ROBERT VAUGHN left.
