Tony Iommi is the man!
I am huge fan of Black Sabbath post Ozzy. To me, Iommi came into his own when he was able to work with a variety of singers that allowed him to craft more elaborate songs.
Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules are two of the greatest albums ever. Dio returned Sabbath to its iconic status. Revolutionizing the sound with epic compositions with stunning vocals and tremendous guitar work from Iommi. This version of Black Sabbath could have dominated the metal scene in the 80s. UNFORTUNATELY it had to be ruined by Geezer Butler. Well, at least we got Holy Diver. The reunion album, Dehumanizer, was a different style, but I loved it. EXTREMELY HEAVY
Born Again was a pretty good album destroyed by shoddy production. Iommi’s guitar work was damn good and I thought Gillan did a good vocal job, though the lyrics are kind of weak. Not really his style. Disturbing the Priest is a wicked song. Gillan’s screaming was f’n great.
I really enjoyed the Tony Martin era. Martin and Iommi crafted some of the best Sab albums. Headless Cross is easily one of the most underrated albums ever. TYR is the third greatest Sab album, imo. The Norse mythology of VALHALLA is so awesome. Tremendous drumming by Cozy Powell on this album.
I want to single out Geezer Butler for some abuse. This guy is the reason why Sabbath collapsed. He pushed Dio out of the band, accusing him of tampering with studio tapes. His production work on Born Again destroyed the album. After these moves virtually destroyed the band’s name brand, he flat leaves Iommi. Then, during the Dehumanizer tour, he starts his usually shit with Dio again. Later on, he even started with Tony Martin.
Sadly, what the hell has Sabbath done since the Ozzy reunion? Jack Shit.

I believe Ian Gillan once made reference to "Born Again", stating that "Born Again" is living proof of why you DO NOT let your bass player near the final mix of the album, lol! I thought that was fuckin' classic.
Interesting story - my wife, Arletta, was in Portland a few years back before I met her, probably 16 or thereabouts, and had opportunity to go catch a free gig by some dude she'd never heard of. It ends up being a Christian concert, but she figures fuck it, it's free, right? Well, the lead singer starts talking about the dangers of damnation and so on and so forth, and starts making mention of his time he spent in - BLACK SABBATH.
So who was this dude giving a free Christian concert in Portland and claiming to be an ex-singer of Black Sabbath?

So I ended up later on downloading the 7th Star demos with him and we visited his website...I'm actually rather jealous of her, because I'd have LOVED to speak with Fenholt and see what his side of the story was.....this is he, for the uninitiated....
Dude, I could not be ANY MORE behind you. I wouldn't forget Forbidden though - VASTLY underrated and one hell of a lot of fun, even with the Ice-T bit (but I'm a big fan of Law and Order SVU anyway, so it's not a big deal). The whole album was just great and had some OUTSTANDING riffage throughout, really damn good and that tour was the first time I had a chance to see them live...being in the same building with a figure that stature of Tony Iommi...it's just fucking amazing, I was practically fucking dumbstruck for most of the show just by his presence and the sheer legendary status that man has....amazing...Originally posted by Vivian Campbell

Technically, Fenholt was never a member of Black Sabbath. When he recorded the 7th Star demos, the intention was to release the record as a Tony Iommi solo album - which it actually was anyway. At the time, the original Sabbath had just come out of their Live Aid appearance, Ozzy was in a period of sobriety, and a new album by the band was planned, but first Ozzy owed CBS/Sony another solo album on his contract. The other band members also agreed to do solo records, which is why Geezer & Bill weren't involved in the 7th Star sessions. Warner Brothers insisted on calling the album "Black Sabbath", which pissed off Ozzy and killed the reunion, but by that point Fenholt's involvement was long gone. So he was never actually in Black Sabbath, but the myth makes for a more dramatic religious conversion story, apparently.

Fenholt still attests that he was a full time member to this day, I believe, but probably for the religious reasons, like you said.

I have absolutely no problem with anyone who prefers Ozzy and the original lineup over the others, at all; just so long as the rest of the Sabbath history post 1979 isn't written off immediately as "garbage" or "useless" or "forgettable"...
Heaven and Hell is a grate album.
Gotta say I prefer the original lineup myself.

This intern at work is constantly listening to the Georgia State college radio station...it's the usual "fringe" type playist schlock for the mostpart, but the dj's can put stuff in here and there. I thought I was hearing things (literally) when one of the kids played "Juniors Eyes".....wtf?

The only problem I have with Ozzy being back in the band is that they've accomplished jack shit with him since 1997 because Ozzy's too busy being a TV star to actually work on a new album.
