Talking Green Dean: Howie The To Green Party?

    Oh, the pain....the pain.

    GREEN WITHOUT ENVY
Former Vermont Gov. Howie Dean and his advisers are looking into options that would allow him to run for president on the Green Party ticket should he fail in his bid to wrench the Democratic nomination away from Sen. John Kerry.

Dean had been looking at the Green Party long before his campaign caught fire. As early as late last summer, Dean was considering the Greens as an option, particularly because at the time Ralph Nader, the Green nominee in 2000, appeared less interested in a run.

"This isn't a ploy to get Democrats to pay attention to us," says a Deaniac in Washington. "This is about ensuring that our man's views and this supporters' views get carried into the fall campaign. A Green Party bid puts him in the debates with Bush and whomever the Democrats nominate. It keeps us viable."

It would also, as the Deaniac pointed out, get the attention of Terry McAuliffe and the DNC pretty quick. Dean is first to brag he's brought in hundreds of thousands of new voters to the party -- voters who most likely would follow Dean to the Greens. He probably would generate more votes than Nader himself pulled in 2000, again dooming Democrats to another loss.

Nader has not yet indicated what he will do in the 2004 campaign. In the past three months he has twice pushed back a decision on whether he's running.

Dean has said he won't run on a third party ticket, though I would vote for him if he did. Green Party wouldn't be the best choice though. Dean's not a hard leftist by any stretch of the imagination, and his fiscal conservatism would appeal to conservatives fed up with Junior's "credit card" spending habits. Such people aren't about to vote Green. Reform party or Liberatarian would be more likely. And if it was a Dean/Clark ticket, it would be the best showing at election time of any third party in history. Good enough to beat Junior and Judas?? It could happen, if people shut off their fucking lying corporate media whores and really thought about how far this country has fallen to in just three years and what it's going to take to reverse that.

Of course all of this is a series of big "If's". I'd rather see Dean & Clark team up NOW and cancel the Kerronation for good

It didn't work for Nader in 2000. Shrub and Gore wouldn't have had a chance...

How can you respect a guy who will jump a party line just to be the man?

Just like his "If i don't win Wisconsin I'm out" speech...The man cannot stick to his word and you seem to like candidates who lack consistency...

It is impossible for me to feel threatened by the Democrats, It is impossible for them to be clear on what the hell they'll do except practice hatred for a man who happens to sit behind the desk in the Oval Office...

I am an open mind, a free spirit and if they want the White House back they'd do better to convince me with policy to vote for them other than spouting the same bullshit about "Laying off Bush" or "One way ticket back to Crawford Texas" or "We're coming, You're going so don't let the door hit you on the way out".

Jeeze, you'd think we were gonna elect the guy with the best catch phrase who talks in cliche's and has no message for the people...

Not this time, not a chance...............
