    Videos: ZZ Top 2005 Tour

In going through my mail/email after getting back in town, I received a confirmation that ZZ Top has confirmed they will Tour starting this summer. Dates and details are being currently finalized for official press release.

Does anyone not think ZZ Top is one of the great bands of our time?

Here’s some great recent videos. If interested I can also post downloads for all ZZ Tops major cool production videos. Just let me know.

These files are download (right click) only. Large files and the server is a little slow. Must use a download accelerator, but videos are well worth it

Eric Clapton’s CrossRoads Guitar Festival, Dallas Texas - June 2004
By special request of Eric Clapton, including a personal visit by Clapton to meet the band members in putting together the event, ZZ Top closed this awesome festival.

Cool performance, although Billy Gibbons was not feeling that well for the show.

Willie Nelson’s 70th Birthday Bash – ZZ Top with Willie Nelson

    >>Willie should have got off the stage and let ZZ Top crank, imo, still a great video

Billy Gibbons Awesome Custom Car Collection:

Some of Billy’s custom cars and bikes, including his 34 Ford Coupe “Eliminator” (used in many ZZ Top videos) are displayed at the Peterson’s Automotive Museum (Hot Rod Magazine) http://www.petersen.org/

Billy Gibbons’ imposing collection of rods, customs and bikes is displayed in the “Cars of the Stars” section of the museum. CadZZilla (July ’89), the two HogZZillas (August ’91) and his Eliminator coupe (September ’83) were HOT ROD feature vehicles.

Good, I hope they make it down to Tampa!

Man, when I saw the setlist of the last tour, I was kicking myself for not going to see them. I could have. I decided not to!

BTW, thanks for all those links!

    Anytime,

.....you get quite a few great concerts in Tampa.

On the CrossRoads Guitar Festival DVDs, Clapton talks about meeting the ZZ Top boys for the first time, in putting the Festival plans together.

Eric said he wasn’t sure what to think of these guys with all their weird lyrics, appearance, and stuff, but was shocked how heavy of players and music theorists they were, particularly Billy Gibbons.

Clapton said after the meeting, there was no question ZZ Top was the only band “right” to close that Festival, which turned out to be an awesome music event.

Top doesn’t put on the shows, as to intensity, like they use to, but I still never miss them. I mean, Billy has slowed down with age and Dusty had Hepatitis C a couple of years back.

I saw ZZ Top on the 2003 Beer Drinkin and Hell Raisin Tour with
    Ted Nuggent, and
Kenny Wayne Sheppard and Double Trouble (Stevie Ray Vaughan’s Band)

Needless to say it was a great show!

I also saw Topp play at the Crossroads Guitar Festival in Dallas, last June 2004, but I was really exhausted from the whole weekend at the Festival, so I couldn’t enjoy them like I wanted to.

Here’s a pic of Billy at a party just last Saturday, 1/29/05
