Eddie has no Killer Stand Out Guitar Solo's with Van Hagar!

Do you notice that EVH had a shitload of stand out guitar solos with DLR and none with Hagar!!

Judgement Day has a killer stand out solo. So has Naturally Wired and 5150 LWAN solo (which is by far his best).

yeah the one in naturally wired always kind of reminded me a little bit of dazed and confused by zeppelin when bith page and plant exchange guitar and vocal licks.

316 is also a nice piece of music as well

    no killer solos???

my favorite has gotta be pleasure dome. great fire for once, he supposedly broke out the steinberger for it. also i think 5150 and the dream is over solos wail. can't get this stuff no more is tasty, and i dig the jazzy solo in big fat money. but god are most of those songs surrounded by such garbage and a spam smell!!! i still love his work.

I never listened to any Van Hagar.

The screaming idiot blows any enjoyment of it for me.

EVH just lobbed solos out after Dave left, supposedly to concentrate on his songwriting skills.

5150 off LWAN is decent, agreed.

He fucking pisses me off! It's like he's been in a rut for the last 20 years. How many solos has he ended with that asending high E string run to the 22nd fret?

I will go out on a limb and say that "A year to the day" solo was refreshing in the sense it sounded angry. Don't get me wrong, I don't like the album, but I always listen to see what Edward is doing on guitar on a new release...

That was the beauty of the CVH solos, they were fucking ANGRY, man. Dave brought that out in Ed. NO ONE else will ever get that out of Edward - EVER!

I will digress and say the BEAT IT solo was damn good, and angry, but then again - he was pissed at Dave for being on vacation.

    There you go...

Dave: the motivator in every way.

the "year to the day" solo was played on a six-string bass - had some rehashed licks, but the tone was pretty 'angry'.

the 'beat it' solo gives me the chills every time i listen to it. its perfect.
