            Deep Purple - November 1974
60 minutes Super Rock Special hosted by
Don Imus - WNBC, New York
with Deep Purple members John Lord and Glenn Hughes

Killer show, Imus plays the great DP classics, and both Glenn and Jon are interviewed throughout the nearly 60 minute show. It's interspersed with hits of the day and product commercials and it's purpose is to promote the just released Stombringer album.

Imus does a great job, even though this show was done back in his heavy coke days. Don's the man, guy cracks me up! Note: This is the last DP album before Ritchie Blackmore leaves Deep Purple and is replaced by Tommy Bolin, April 1975.

I have tremendous respect for Tommy Bolin's (RIP) work, but to me Deep Purple wasn't DP without Ritchie Blackmore, even though NO ONE could get along with the guy.

I remember reading how the band was out eating at this nice eatery, one night, and Blackmore got pissed off about something, per usual, and picked up this big piece of fish off his plate and threw it right in Lord's face. The whole band was told to leave the establish.

To this day, I have never seen a poll where Blackmore is not #1 for the musician with the worst attitude.

Here's a pic of Ritchie and DP in 1973

Of course we are talking the Ritchie Blackmore of old before he went crazy over the hot blond in these videos (Candice) and got into all that Celtic and Renaissance music, starting his new band with Candice, "Blackmore Nights".......Shiteeee

I hope that is really good p-tang he is getting. Man-o-man.

Tell ya, somewhere along the way Candice did way too much bad acid and fried her tiny brain. Guess she must be good yum.

Those pictures of Richie are quite shocking. Just thinking that one of the most influencial and brilliant guitarists of all time now plays fuckin Celtic music dressed like a gnome.

That sort of shit should be saved for Sammy, not Richie fuckin Blackmore

CountPoint - Yeah but Richie is 60 years old, and gets lots of young lude induced p-tang off Candy.

You got to remember Richie usually was always voted #1 on the biggest rock asshole list. Not a guy that was easy to be around, and
he seemed to stay pretty mad at life in general.

A lot of people think the "Celtic Way" was an escape from life for the guy, to keep himself from self destructing.
