    Thumbs up Jeff Beck: Wired

Just bought this great album on CD today.

I heard some of it about a year back at a party and I really liked it.

I finally found it at Best Buy today, and I bought it. I must say that it fucking rocks. Like the sticker on the cover says, this is one of the best live instrumental albums ever.

Anyone else own this or care to share any thoughts on it?

Don't give me any shit for just now getting it, I'm only 25 and it was released 2 years before I was born.

I love all his albums. He's the most progressive guitarist.

I got his latest album a couple of months ago. it's a must!

An older brother of a friend of mine had that eight-track back in the day.We used to listen to it while we rode this shitty half-pipe we built. It's always been a favorite.

An older sister of a sistah sold her copy to a crack head who sold his copy to this guy who bumped into Wayne L and started asking questions about writing run-on sentences and Jeff Beck became the topic of discussion, but Wayne being a typical loser said "who?"

Anyway, back in the day, I didn't have no friggin' half-pipe. I had a pot pipe.

I never listened to Jeff Beck. I've heard a couple songs, that's about it...

Oh yeah! Classic Jeff Beck from his funk - fusion period. Wired was the first one I had and I wore it out when I was a kid. Check out some of his newer stuff also, particularly IMO, "Who Else". You might also enjoy another of my favs "Guitar Shop" with Terry Bozzio on drums.

Beck really developed significantly over the years and his sound and technique are completely original. This might not win me any friends here but I personally feel he plays circles around EVH and was probably one of his major inspirations.

If you are into Pink Floyd, Beck played brilliantly on Roger Water's album "Amused To Death", which if I had to pick only one CD I could listen to for the rest of my life (God forbid) I would probably choose.

The best albums are the Old Jeff Beck Group with Rod Stewart on vocals and Ron Wood playing bass... yes, bass.

After that Beck went into a decline in terms of popularity, playing with different singers and musicians. His last really big moment was a cover of "People Get Ready", again with Rod on vocals.

I bought "Wired" about ten years ago. I like it a lot, but I prefer "... with the Jan Hammer Group Live".
I also have "Truth", Beck-Ola", "Jeff Beck Group", "Beck Boggert Appice", "Beck Boggert Appice Live", "Blow by Blow", "Crazy Legs", "Guitar Shop", "Who else?" and "You had it coming". My faves are the first four albums and "Guitar Shop".
"Brush with the Blues", on "You had it coming", is extraordinary.

Jeff Beck has been THE guitar emperor for over 40 years IMO.

Man, hen I listen to Blow By Blow and Wired back to back, I don't even wanna LOOK at my fuckin' guitar, much less play it...

...ever hear some guitar players who inspire you to pick up your axe and play, and then some who are so fucking good you don't even WANT to play after hearing them? The latter are precious few, and Beck falls into that category without a fucking doubt.

From what I read, Beck had a lot of complimentary things to say about EVH over the years. Guess the difference is that Beck keeps expanding and improving as the years go by, although his output lessened. To me, EVH stopped developing as a player around 1985. And no, not because Dave wasn't there and Sam sucks...but Ed just stopped trying. With every Van Hagar album, there are a couple of moments where something decent was trying to get out and you could hear Ed putting out the effort, but basically he went on autopilot.
