i see that little guitars post, and i agree it rocks! i shows why VH ain't your typical rock band...it's so unique and just on it's own platform. such a feel good song without any machoism from a band that had it in spades...lucky for us they had soul to match, and could pull off anything they tried!
on the drive home today, i popped in an unmarked mix tape, and several tracks after little guitars came push comes to shove! what a showcase of every band member's talents, shown off in a very "un-vh like" song...well it's like they said about general lee's dignity-"the way you expect it after you'd come to expect it". vh can do anything, and when you come to expect/accecpt it none of their songs are "un-vh like" are they?!?!?
great soulful singing from dave, great bass fills from mike...the pre chorus melodies from ed are terrific...and the SOLO! wow! just a master of phasing...and the song comes back in in a modulated raised key for tension (like take your wiskey home) NOBODY'S DOING THAT SHIT NO MORE! what about al's contribution? i don't remeber being wowed by it, but he really was the man back then...lots of syncopation with ed...wow..you know a band is amazing when you realize over and over, and are honest about it each tme, that you are STILL shocked that these four guys could do this!
