AMERICAN IDOL is crap. Glitter, image...bah. What about people working their way up by playing to audiences instead of sucking agent's dicks?

If we start depending on AMERICAN IDOL contestants for future "rock stars", I can't imagine how barren the concert scene will be in 15 years.

AI isn't about Rock Stars, it's about POP stars and they are usually a flash in the pan anyway.

Yeah but (and I don't really blame IDOL for this part), the line between rock star and pop star is becoming thinner and thinner. Pop is manufactured music. Too much rock these days is totally manufactured. SCOTT WEILAND...CHRIS CORNELL...JERRY CANTRELL...THE HIVES...these are rock stars. AVRIL LAVIGNE...SIMPLE PLAN...GOOD CHARLOTTE...these are pop stars dressed up to look like rock stars.

My wife LOVES this show, and I've tried watching it with her several times. All I can say is, I hate manufactured "stars" who don't pay their dues. That, and the fact that I hate pop music in the "Britney" tradition, which is all this overrated show has to offer.
