    Crazy From The Heat Manuscript

Take a trip with Diamond Dave to the Dongo Islands. This is a working copy to the Crazy From The Heat movie that was never made.
In Dave's own words from "Crazy From The Heat" the autobiography.
    --------------------------------
"The idea for the movie was basically a musical with a very left of center plot. There were a number of rewrites, but the general script for Crazy from the Heat was a story about Dave (and keep in mind all these characters are right out of California Girls).
Landed a 10 million dollar budget for the movie, and there was to be a couple million-dollar director's fee. It was a huge deal, especially since I was first time everything".
"The entire album of Eat 'Em and Smile was designed to match up to the scenes for the movie that never came to be because, unbeknownst to us, CBS Pictures was in trouble. If I remember correctly, we were about four weeks away from the start date. We had a cast. We had everything made, all the costumes, et cetera. Every shot was storyboarded.
But CBS was changing hands, parts of it were being eliminated. The boiled the movie division, decided that they didn't want to be in the business anymore. There were some eight pictures I think that were green lighted and setting up to go, ours being one of them.
I sued CBS. I went to court, got the director's fee. Never did make the picture-- made semi-efforts at shopping it to a couple of other movie companies, but it was something that was born out of imagination and vision."
    --------------------------------
This script should be taken for what it is, a working copy. Chances are that this would have not been the final script and the storyline would have changed with each rewrite. You can tell by reading this that it is set in the 80's. In Meatballs and Stripes fashion, some of the humor is similar to the comedy's that were appearing at the time. If this movie were made today, obviously it would be dated.
For those that are interested, the script was 90 pages long and was OCR scanned by me a few years ago. Here it is in it's condensed form, available to view or print on the web.

    to be posted later tonight..
    here is a teaser..

    DAVE
    (indicating the sun-block)
Hey, New York -- some monster seagull just took a huge shit right in the middle of your face!
    PETE
No, Dave. This is a special hi- protein avocado-‘n’-quaalude tanning mousse. They only sell it in California.
Pete’s eye catches something out on the water. He nudges Dave, who looks out at it too.
    EXT. BOSTON WHALER - DAY
A boatload of gorgeous, half-undressed young women. They are giggling and waving toward shore.
    DAVE AND PETE
    Dave is waving happily.
    DAVE
    (waving them over)
    Oh, girls? Girls...?
    THE WHALER
The Girls are still smiling and waving.
    NYMPH #1
    (sweetly)
    No, thanks! We’re lesbians!
They all nod, still smiling. The boat sails on.
    DAVE AND PETE
They can’t believe what they’ve heard. Their faces drop. Meantime Madame Duguay approaches, wearing high heels and a white gauze dress.

I think the movie executives in Hollywood were out of their minds not to let Dave make his rock movie Crazy From The Heat with great music, hot babes, his flamboyant showmanship & his bad ass attitude on the silver screen since it would have joined other classic rock movies like King Creole with Elvis, A Hard Day's Night with the Beatles & This Is Spinal Tap if it would have been released but no talent Vanilla Ice got to make a movie instead which is insane.

Friggin awesome!!! I mean the whole script is nothing but one liners, but they are pretty good ones. Its a shame that it didn't make it to film. I always thought that Dave was funny. The guy could have been a stand up comedian. Oh well, that's life.......

    That script BLOWS!!
Don't kid yourself folks the reason that movie wasn't made is as clear as the scalp on Dave's head.

Anyone who thinks that script is funny must be a fan of movies like Ford Fairlane.

That movie would have been as successful as Dave's BBQ video.
Oh I forgot that was never released either.

I didn't read the whole thing, so I can't say this with any definitiveness but ...

That movie sounded like it would suck. I'm not really into that kind of film.

I'm sure the movie would have turned out much better than the script. But there was a really short window of time when it would have worked - right there in the mid 80s. If it had been made, watching it now would probably be like watching the BBQ video - best done under the influence of booze and heavy drugs lol.

Even back in that day... most of us thought they looked like twats. Why were those dudes dressing like Jane Fonda in her exercise gear..?

Yeah I doubt it would have aged too well. I assume that wasn't the shooting script but a draft plus I would imagine the script to say the Going Crazy video wouldn't look that amazing looking back 30 years if it had never been made and you were just reading the words on the page.

This script was one of the first things I loaded and read on my tablet. Might work now as an animated feature, or as a comic similar to the Lance Watts book.

Thanx Sarge, I was always curious about the script. Just gave a cursory glance but it appears to be a long form version of Dave's videos at the time.

    Crazy From The Heat

In early 2001, I must have stumbled upon another script that was totally different from this one; and way better. The gist of it was something about Dave being the only white guy left in the world with any mojo, and them (whoever they are) wanting to clone his mojo.

Maybe it was LSD flashback, but I swear that I read. I`ve got it saved somewhere. Been thru many computers since then. I`ll have to go... looking.
