But Sammy got fired/quit the band not much later. I think the song was being calling "Between Us Two." The song got broke to the pieces, as Eddie used that song as a basis for "Year to the Day" and Sammy used some of that song for a song on his March to Mars album.

Oh, You Ate One Too?!? \m/\m/!!!

First of All how can it be classic song with fagard to begin with... is he any pioneer of the Band. And second, again... what is this fuckin nonsense this guy wrote as he read himself...

Nope. The song was written and recorded, but never released. Here's the lyrics.......

      Stairway to Cabo (S.Hagar/E.VanHalen)

      There's an Eddie who's sure
      All cheese ballads are gold
And we bought a canteen down in Cabo.

When we get there we know
      That Ou812 blows
      With Velveeta you get
      what you pay for

      Ooooooo ooooooooooh
And we're buying a Stairway to Cabo

      There’s guitars on the wall
But we want to be sure
Cause you know that we’re not
      Really Van Halen

In a trans-am by the road
      There’s a chedhead who sings
      Sometimes all of our jive
      Come from aliens

      There’s a feelin I get
      When the agave’s wet
      And tequila is cryin
      For drinking

In my thoughts I have seen
      Drinks of fluorescent green
      And Capri pants with
      Logos all over

      If there’s a bustle in Ed’s studio
      Don’t be alarmed now
      It’s Ray Danniels calling him
      To fire me
Yes there are two paths you can go by
      But in the long run
      They’ll say “fuck the fans”
      And hire Cherone

      And the sisters blunder…….

      Your band is failing
      Sales near zero
      In case you don’t know
      The Diamond’s calling you
      To join him
      Dear chedheads
Can you hear the wind blow
      Way down in Cabo
Your stairway lies on the cheesy wind

And we’ll tour 8 years down the road
With three new songs that completely blow
Is this the Van Halen we all know?
Who kicked ass live and studio.
The real fans are screaming NO
And if you listen very hard
You’ll know that Ed & Alex are retards
Still everything still turns to cheese
When the aliens make us one and all
Without the Roth this rock don’t roll

      And we’re buyyyyyyyying a stairway……..to Cabo.

I was just thinking about it, and it's actually possible that those songs were presented to Dave... even Learning to See. Forget any lyrics or melody that made it to the recorded versions and it's not that hard to imagine Dave coming up with something interesting.

Can't Get This Stuff No More was originally from the Balance sessions. I love that song. I bet the original was completely different... and it couldn't have been as cool as CGTSNM! That song is criminally underrated.
