Most annoying part about Hagar is that he joined Van Halen after Roth left. This, combined with the fact that there were enough people who bought Sam Halen records and kept the Van Halen name going post-1985, despite the commercial mendacity of the music after 1985, has unfortunately forever linked Sammy Hagar with Van Halen, and Dave. And now Van Halen fans have to qualify what period of the band they enjoyed.
Bascially, Hagar took some of the pride in digging Van Halen away from the fan base by being an accessory to the bands commercial pussification.
