Are there any CVH tracks that were never put on the albums but were recorded with full production? for all six?

I don't think so...I've never heard of anything like that. If it exists outside of Eddie's basement, then someone on this site would have it.Comment

we all would!
that would be the coolest shit ever...a box set of 4 or 5 cds and dvds of all unheard and unseen digitally remastered kick ass CVH.
Fair Warning outtakes...yeah I'd buy that!Comment

I think Van Halen was pretty good about cutting just enough material to make it on the records.
They definately were not in the realm of Brian Wilson, McCartney & Lennon or Townshend, who would cut hundreds of songs (some of which was great stuff), never to be seen or heard except for a bootleg release.Comment

Well when you put the songs out that CVH did and they all kick ass you really don't have to make any outtakes or extras.
I have something I have no idea what it is because it's not titled but it's some guitar work that says 1984 outtake but it's just Eddie jammin his guitar in a studio.Comment

But my point is, they made just enough to put on the records. I don't think Ed was so prolific that songs were just pouring from his soul at a constant output.
Ed's more of a guitarist who's also a songwriter (ala Hendrix), than a songwriter who's also a guitarist (Lennon, Townshend).Comment

I'm sure there are a couple from each album around, I agree with you though I doubt there are many though.Comment

I don't think there's this "mountain" of stuff that most elude to.
Take a look at the "Zero" stuff. Most of that would become songs for later albums. I think that they were lazy about getting to business and even lazier about recording. The stuff that Ed most likely does have is the live recordings from the master boards and film footage.Comment

Some unreleased songs became the more known songs that were featured on the albums.
"Voodoo Queen" -- the main riff became "Mean Street" and the ending became the ending for "Hot for Teacher".
"Last Night" -- became "Hang Em High" -- it just had different lyrics.
"Down in Flames" - parts of this song were used in "You're No Good" (though I wish they stayed with the original Down in Flames -- a much better song!)
"Lets Get Rockin" -- featured the riff and line 'take my whisky to the party tonight...' of course became "Romeo Delight".
There are others, but these are the ones I can think of right now.=V V=
